Middle aged woman acted like my innocuous French Bulldog was a pitbull. Weird?

The retractable leash hate here is weird. I’m personally not running 30 ft into the woods and leaves every time my dog wants to tinkle.

I'm not going to deny that joy. I love petting other people's dogs and they love petting mine. I'm not petting a pitbull or anything scary but cute breeds are fair game.

Can we stop with the pitbull hate? Just enough already. We get it. You have told us over and over had they are "scary" and should be banned. I am sick of it.

When you can find me one example of a French bulldog mauling anyone I’ll stop. Pits and rotts et al are terrifying dogs. Small cute dogs and family dogs like goldens and doodles and basset hounds and labs are just adorable.

Scared of 20-25 pound Frenchy? That's a bit much, I think.

You really can't imagine a world in which another person is afraid of a dog

A small cute dog? No. First time. That’s why I asked if some people simply can’t differentiate? I’m honestly not sure.

There are people who just have an irrational fear of any dog. My DC had a friend who was terrified of our 10 pound cavapoo. The dog loves people, but is very calm and doesn't jump on people, etc. The mother explained that the kid was afraid of dogs (like it was reasonable to be afraid of a tiny friendly dog), so I immediately put him outside, but I was thinking WTF?

Many Holocaust survivors were terrified of German shepherds, which we used by the Nazis in the concentration camps

Ask some veterinarians how they feel about retractable leashes. Tons of injuries from dogs bolting either into the road or pulling away and the dog walker drops the leash.

Do you really not understand trauma? Likely she’s been harmed by a dog before.

You know you have a clueless dog owner when you see a retractable leash.

I agree. This is a troll who has been starting lots of dog related posts. The poster sounds intellectually challenged.

I assume most outdoorsy people walking on a trail (with a lot of dogs on it) probably like dogs. Outside of scary dogs like pitbulls.

This sounds just like that same poster who constantly starts the dog related posts. Wants help sneaking their dog in to a no pet hotel, my dog is more important than your property, I will take my dog everywhere I want etc etc. They clearly have some form of mental illness.

Definitely not true in my case. Not sure why someone would assume that.

I have posted here plenty of times but here I go again. I have a severe allergy. If your dog touches me I will get hives in that place but sometimes it spreads to become a systemic reaction. I am really, really allergic. But I also have a family and like to go places and do things. So I try hard to avoid dogs and to be clear I don’t want to come in contact with your dog. Some people can’t take a hint though.

I've been bitten three times by "friendly" dogs (pets, not strays, that were not known to be aggressive) - once requiring stitches, a different time, rabies shots. I don't hate dogs but I don't like them approaching me. I very much enjoy local trails. Just keep control of it on a leash and we'll all be fine.

You’re an adult. The world has dogs in it. Get therapy.

Our friend is terrified of dogs - all sizes. Yes, even a 20 pound too. I saw a small dog sniff his pant leg and he tensed up immediately.

I'm an adult. I was bitten buy a dog when I was 5. I hate all dogs. If your dog comes towards me and appears threatening in any way, it's not going to end well for it.
