Cracked and rough feet - anyone actually fix this and then have smooth feet

Anonymous
Baby feet is amazing. But you have to soak your feet before you use it. The longer the better! Aim for at least 30 minutes, 45-60 is even better. Then leave the booties on for some extra time. Next: do not use moisturizer for the 2 weeks afterwards, or until all the peeling is done. I do moisturizer my ankles bc I don’t need those to peel.

I do the Baby Feet peel every few months, and then once I’m done peeling I use O’Keefe’s Healthy Feet lotion every day. That stuff is amazing.

Op here: this is definitely not what I’m talking about. Are they less dry in the morning? Sure. Are the cracks and all the dryness gone- no way. Not even close.

Daily foot soaks in epsom salts, scrub with pumice stone after the soak, then slather on aquaphor and cover with thick socks. You will notice a huge difference after a week.

You have to do Vaseline or Occitane foot cream or cracked heel cream. Slather generously and then put socks on. Do this for a week or so.

You're wrong and don't know what you're talking about. The people posting about creams containing urea (Kerasal contains it if someone wants a legit, non-Amazon brand) know what they're talking about.

+1 on Urea

Gehwol isn't an Amazon brand though (lol). This is the legit brand they use for pedicures - with both retail and professional lines. I only discovered it because I asked the woman doing my pedicure at a high-end spa.

Gehwol Hydrolipid Lotion

I buy from Amazon because it's easy.

I’ve tried Baby Foot and another brand that I got from Sephora. Neither one did anything at all. I have a Diamond foot scraper and follow up with Burt’s Bees Almond & Milk hand cream.

You left it on for the full time, soaked your feet each day afterward and didn’t put any cream on your feet?

Yes. The first time I followed the directions exactly. The second time I left the booties on a little longer. I had absolutely no peeling. Nothing.

I’ve only had that happen when I didn’t soak it feet each day after the treatment or forgot and used moisturizer on my feet before they peeled.

Thanks for the tips. I’ll keep this in mind if I try again. Maybe longer soaking times might help.

This is the brand I have used with excellent results. My SIL swears by it, and uses it all the time because she hates getting pedicures.

Thank you! I’ll try this one. I appreciate your recommendation!

Get a high quality pedicure to start. Like one from a fancy spa, not a regular old manicure place. Then scrub your feet every other day in the shower, and sleep with aquaphor and socks on. (but yes I hate sleeping with socks on.)

I can’t bring myself to to the peels but agree the o’keefes cream is excellent. I use a pumice on my feet and then do a thick layer of cream under socks.

Every few weeks I soak my feet in epsom salted water then use a cheese-grater type instrument (specifically for feet though). I don’t know the brand though. Then slather on something like Vicks vapo rub (this also gets rid of yellow toenail fungus I swear!) Every other day in the shower I Use the diamond foot filer. It’s a lot of work. But if I don’t do this my feet crack badly and bleed. Those of you in the same boat know what I’m talking about 😬

Baby feet didn’t work for me. I shave off any callouses or rough spots with a Gillette razor (while skin is dry), then moisturize with urea based cream.

That’s odd. Maybe it was the brand? Baby feet was the only thing that worked for me. My feet were gnarly and after the treatment they were smoother. Then I used a foot file to get them smooth.

That’s what I thought after the first try, so I tried a different brand the second time. Oh well. I was really looking forward to the peeling and the transformation. Maybe I’ll give it another try. I was kind of looking forward to the dramatic peeling part.

Thanks! I just ordered the one that another poster recommended. I’ll save this in my cart for later. Nice that it comes in two fragrances.
I have great hopes for this!

The only thing that has ever worked for me is using a callus shaver every few weeks and moisturizing and using a diamond file in between. If you have deep cracks now I would focus on using the shaver (don't take off too much...go slowly over a few days until you understand it's awesome power) and moisturizing. After the cracks heal you can get a little more aggressive with the file.

I did it myself, but if you get a medical pedicure they can set you on the right path. But it's probably expensive and I'm not sure where to get one. I wouldn't go to a regular place with open cracks. Nor would I use Baby Feet. Too easy to get an infection from the microtears, and also I'm not sure it's good for really thick, dry skin.

Please don’t use the razor. So bad for your skin.

DP. That’s bizarre. Baby Feet makes my feet peel like a snake. Did you soak your feet before?
