"Good guys with a gun" always has been a fallacy. The more "good guys with guns" we get in America, the more gun violence comes with it.

This is all about the corruption of those in charge. Not just police, but officials up to Abbot. When there is so much corruption, basic functions break down.

We saw this with the Russian army, a total failure because the leaders were corrupt. It's not even about guns. It's about corruption.

Oh it’s also about the guns. Those police officers were terrified of what those weapons and ammunition could do. Because they know how horrifyingly powerful such weapons are.

It has nothing to do with corruption and everything to do with cowardice.

And this caused them to incorrectly report who was dead and who was alive?

pp here. I should have made it clear, unfettered access to guns stems from corruption, just that it's way deeper than too many guns.

You would think that the opposite would be true--that cops would want fewer guns on the street so that they wouldn't have to fear for their lives every time they go out on a shift. But, no, they want MORE guns under the theory that a "good guy" with a gun can help prevent mass shootings. Even though that rarely happens IRL...

Basically we're in a domestic arms race where "bad guys" and cops are equipped with more and more weapons and fear and paranoia increase.

The "good guy with a gun" who killed two terrorists in the recent Jerusalem bus station attack five days ago was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers while he was kneeling on the ground with his hands up in the air. Netanyahu coldly responded to reporters about the tragic killing of the hero - "That's life."

Cops killed the "good guy with a gun" in the Arvada, CO mass shooting:

What do soldiers in Israel have to do with mass shootings in U.S. schools? Did you have trouble staying on topic in school? Your comment will get lost when you could have posted it in an appropriate thread. You are just rage farming. There is no multinational police plot to kill citizens. Just a bunch of localized, incompetent cowards.

On the contrary, I find PP’s examples of the “good guy with a gun” being killed by other good guys with guns to be enlightening about the fallacy of “more weapons means more safety” argument.

There is terrible corruption in police departments, but that’s separate from the excess of guns the GOP keeps pumping out onto the streets.

PP here, not disagreeing. When I say Corruption, it's not just police. It's about the corruption that has plagued the GOP into gerrymandering their seats so that they are never held to account.

I listened to Garland's entire speech. It was horrifying. And apparently, zero TX officials attended. Where is the GOP LOVES BABIES now? Where are all the PROTECT LIFE people now? They should be outraged.

Let's just say it: BLUE LIVES MATTER more than everyone else's lives

Despite the image they try to project, Texans are uniquely cowardly. They’ll always own this one.

376 cops were on site. Three hundred and seventy six.

Running around with their AR-15s, and backwards baseball hats, and Oakley sunglasses, striking manly poses.

And listening to the little kids get slaughtered.

Cowards.

And this caused them to incorrectly report who was dead and who was alive?

"Without appropriate precautions, victims who had already passed away were taken to the hospital in ambulances while children with bullet wounds were put on school buses without any medical attention," Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta said.

The full statement about the report is here. Just devastating.
