MIL is driving me insane

It's an epidemic of meddling. I'd like to see meddling data that compares MILs who have their own lives (i.e. volunteering, working) with MILs who have retired and do nothing. I'm convinced mine just needs something to keep her occupied besides us and the internet.

Mine is legit nuts. She has her good qualities -- after I enforced an important boundary 20 years ago she learned not to push me on things. She cares about my opinion. We have affection for each other. But we don't have a single thing in common except caring about my kids, and sometimes her weird little girl persona comes and I just have to shrug with the kids later and be like, yeah, you're right, she IS a little crazy.

Out of curiosity, what was the important boundary?
