Sad about Lauryn Ricketts leaving NBC4 and her dream job

We live in a busy area with heavy news, in particular in this political climate. I am a bubbly person myself, and I realize that’s not for everybody – but her laughter and her seemingly happy attitude is a nice change from so much seriousness.
Glad she’s back!

She is an extremely nice in person. Second hand but from someone who has interacted with her multiple times.

Ugh. Really telling and sad that you wear this as some sort of badge of honor.

And your use of the word “honey” in such a paternalistic and condescending way says a lot about you. Sorry you had to give up your dreams, but I doubt you were on the top career track to begin with.

Good for you for recognizing your limits and staying in the kitchen.

She has a little 7 month old boy and her DH is in the military stationed overseas. Lauryn said it was her dream job that she worked really hard to get, now she is giving it up for her family. I really like her and feel so sad that she is sacrificing her career - like so many women do for the sake of her family. She is late 30's and entering the zone of ageism so who knows if she will ever get back on TV.

It just was sad to see it happen to her and her career. I will miss her on the weekend weather. I hope she has a great life.

It is never a bad thing to put your family first.

No one, ever, is going to wish they worked more or put their family on the back burner when they are lying on their death bed.

Welcome to the world. This is what happens to most women. They sacrifice career for family.

I frame it as prioritizing the important things like family, over the superficial things like a job.

Lucky thing.

A loving family and a beautiful child.

I thought this was the 20th century, and not the bra burning 70s, where women could be free and unjudged to make the best choices for their lives, including putting themselves and their families first, without being criticized by other women because it makes them feel better about their own choices.

Women are our own worst enemies.

This might be be in a year. It sucks. I'm sure there's tons of resentment.

If you're truly working your dream job , then you shouldn't move for anything. However, if you chose to move, its your responsibility and yours only.

I could never imagine giving up my spouse, for a ... job.
