Lauryn Ricketts who does the weekend weather on channel 4 said goodbye to everyone this morning because she is moving overseas to be with her DH. She has a little 7 month old boy and her DH is in the military stationed overseas. Lauryn said it was her dream job that she worked really hard to get, now she is giving it up for her family. I really like her and feel so sad that she is sacrificing her career - like so many women do for the sake of her family. She is late 30's and entering the zone of ageism so who knows if she will ever get back on TV.
It just was sad to see it happen to her and her career. I will miss her on the weekend weather. I hope she has a great life. |
Well, everyone has to make their own choices. |
Obviously, they decided that's the best for their family. I am not going to second guess. Good luck to her family. |
Her husband is a retired marine why is he being stationed overseas? |
He’s DoD not military anymore |
This is how having children impacts women's careers and earnings. It happens a lot, especially with spouses working abroad. |
Who wouldn’t want the opportunity to live abroad and not work while kid is little? Sounds like an awesome experience. It’s only two years and she can definitely get another job when she gets back. |
She is sexy AF |
There are lots of jobs on TV for 40 somethings, right? |
For sure especially bleach blondes with perky tits |
From what I heard, she’ll still be doing weather reports on WTOP radio. She is well-liked in this area. Hopefully they’ll return here after his posting and she can be back on the air. |
Podcast, Spotify, YouTube. She'll be fine. |
Are you okay OP? late 30's and entering the zone of ageism? Are you kidding me? She's not 60 trying to re-enter the workplace. Also problematic is that you feel "sad" that she is putting her family first. |
Welcome to the world. This is what happens to most women. They sacrifice career for family. |
She seems nice enough, but I can’t stand her vocal cadence on WTOP. |
