Sad about Lauryn Ricketts leaving NBC4 and her dream job

I was surprised she came back, but I like her so happy to see her back. Not shocked she's following her DH. She worked hard to have her baby, and I don't blame her for prioritizing her family.

I don’t get why this is sad.

Her husband’s been overseas since 2020. Honestly it looks like she just used her job to pay for this expensive IVF benefits and multiple leaves and left 3 months after returning.

Which is fine but all clearly planned.

I could see if he was in Hawaii and she wanted to follow him. But to Prague, no. With a young child I’d be concerned about healthcare and if she wants to expand her family. But if someone mentioned in an earlier post, if he’s been away for 2 years, I’d want to be with him. He’s not in the military anymore?

IVF overseas is much cheaper. People actually travel to Prague to have IVF because of the lower cost and good success rates.

I’m the opposite. Don’t drag me to Hawaii. But the opportunity to live in Prague? That would be amazing.

OP, the fact that you feel this way about someone you don't even know, and that you project your internal negative feelings on someone "sacrificing their career for the sake of their family," is fascinating to me, and tells us a lot more about you than it does about her.

I saw it too OP + share your reaction. I thought this was the 21st Century not the 1950s. Giving up a dream job for a man is a tale as old as time. Poor thing.

Why is it characterized as giving it up for a man? She was living in this area fine without him for multiple years while they pursued separate dream careers.

In reality she’s giving it up for the baby it seems? Which is her choice but not the man’s fault.

Um, it’s Prague, which sounds pretty nice, and it’s her dh with whom she has a baby. And no offense to Lauryn’s career, but weather people don’t make tons of money, except maybe Al Roker. She’s doing what makes sense for her and her family. I wish them the best, and I hope we get to see her on the air again down the road.

The man has been overseas and living separately from her for years. She didn’t move to Prague for him or quit her job for him before this. She left because she had a baby and didn’t want to single mom her way through it.
