How do we interpret this? |
you can go by LEA/DCPS. You can only "interpret" the charters right now until DCPS schools are broken out |
Can someone give me the TLDR? |
|
Broadly from the charter sector, which stayed fully in-person longer than DCPS in general (correct?)
https://dcpcsb.org/dc-wide-test-results-underscore-impact-covid-students-city "The PARCC assessments, administered in spring 2022, measured students’ performance in English Language Arts (ELA) and math in grades 3-8 and high school grades 9-12 (adult learners do not take the assessment). The test has five performance levels, with level 4 and level 5 indicating readiness for college and career. In the public charter school sector, the number of students in grades 3-8 who scored at or above level 4 decreased by 10.0 percentage points in ELA and 13.0 percentage points in math, and the number of students in grades 9-12 who scored at or above level 4 decreased by 1.7 percentage point in ELA and 6.7 percentage points in math." | ZOMG these scores are baaaaaad. |
I don't think that's correct, but it really was on a school by school basis. Some charters didn't open at all to anyone last year. The best case scenario was that they opened for hybrid a few weeks after DCPS (I think). I don't know that anyone has that information completely. DCPS schools seemed to all at least offer a few seats when they reopened. |
|
Edit: Not "last year". 2020-2021.
Ugh the pandemic has wrecked my sense of the passage of time. |
|
How do you get the overall ELA or Math score? Is it an average of the 4-5 sub-scores for each? Is the school wide score an average of all of the grades?

| I know test scores aren’t the be all end all, but this is still depressing. I’m preparing now for gaslighting. |
