PARCC results: how will they be communicated to families?

I have been wondering the same - when are we getting these test results. My kid is not enrolled in a dcps this year, so we would only receive the scores by mail. Radio silence on this.

If you are in a charter I believe your new school will receive the scores.

Thank you - no, we’re at a private for middle school.

Are you willing to share any preliminary observations or info? Like, parochial or independent private? May I ask how it's going? How was the transition? How do the academics compare to your DCPS?

Yes but we’re only on day 3 so I’m not sure my observations would be all that useful. I will say, I am so far very happy with our particular choice (small independent). I can’t really comment on academics at this point but I have a good feeling about the overall environment and program. In our case, I think small classes are an especially good fit for our kid.

Appreciate the reply. Thank you.

I think the hypocrisy by BASIS haters is laughable. You complain that BASIS has no gym, library or windows and there is no way your child would ever attend. Yet, when the scores come in you cry wolf about how unfair BASIS is because they get all the excellent students from other schools and weed out the weaker students to help boost their scores. And the final act of satire comes when you complain that your little snowflake isn't challenged at Deal/JR and that there are too many fights. I hope the school scores come out soon.

The school scores are already out.

NP. You must be new to DCUM. The BASIS stuff never ends. PP to whom you replied is not wrong. It's funny to watch people complain both that BASIS is a terrible school that no kid should attend and in the same sentence complain it is peeling kids away from other schools and its scores should have an asterisk.

This is a thread about PARCC.

Are you suggesting everyone who wants a good school should move WOTP? That seems impractical and isn't fair. People should have access to good schools no matter where they live. Charters serve that purpose since DCPS has historically failed to do so.

The problem is in ward 6 that our council member doesn’t see a problem with our middle and high schools, nor does the mayor.

Making this problem worse are the crazy white saviors who call everyone racist if they make different choices for their kids.
