16 yo Orphan Teen Deemed "Not Mature" Enough to Get an Abortion

Anonymous
Women and girls should not have to ask for permission to control whether or not they have a child. Period.

They are not just dooming the girl to a life of poverty and ignorance but also dooming the unborn to a life of poverty. Not that being poor should be a crime, but how many books will this unborn kid have in their home? How safe will their home be? How safe will their shitty daycare be? How healthy will their diet be?

You can do all these things on a low income and there are things like day care vouchers. Your post is a stretch but she should be granted the choice. Many rich people parent poorly.

I have been on welfare and food stamps and those are crappy daycares that don’t have cameras, are understaffed, and don’t feel safe.

Most day cares are crappy, paid or not and camera's only do so much. Being poor is not a reason to have an abortion. Being young with you entire future ahead of you is.

It’s really not up to anyone else to decide whether a woman has a baby or not. As a women who was thrust from a comfortable MC class life into poverty after divorce (with two kids), let me tell you: being poor is a very, very compelling reason not to have a child.

+2

As someone who experienced poverty after having been MC/UMC my whole life, people really treat you (and your kids) like crap when you’re poor. I know most on DCUM have no idea, but it is absolutely true. I’m UMC again by the grace of god, and the difference in how I am treated now and how I was treated then is just incredibly different. People don’t get this.

What happens if the guardian takes her out of state for an abortion?

Not seeing this -- is she white?

I assume she is. No judge in Florida would be taking extra steps to protect the "unborn child" of a Hispanic or Black girl.

Maybe for you but clearly not for others however, the issue isn't being poor, its a personal decision and she should have the right to choose.

You need adult consent. I'm assuming the guardian is the one refusing to consent.

“ According to the appeal court’s decision, the teen’s guardian supports the teen’s wish to get an abortion.”

Because abortions are banned for only white women. Sure.

Read the article, stupid. It clearly says she wanted the baby at one point and is grieving the death of a friend. Judge wants her to pause to make sure of decision before moving forward.
God, you’re dumb.

Actually, if you read, it does NOT say she wanted the baby, but that she was open to it, which is not nearly as definitive.

You just proved my point.

Not in the slightest. Words have meaning, and yours were inaccurate.

Richt, words have meaning which is exactly how you proved my point.

Does it make it so because you put a period after the sentence or because you insert the word period after the sentence?

Can I ask a question? Question mark?

DP. The PP who said she “wanted” the baby is wrong. At most, she was “open” which is not the same thing at all.

“ the minor, at least at one point, says she was open to having a child, but later changed her view after considering her inability to care for a child in her current station in life.””

She’s more mature than many adults. The judge is a POS.
