As a west coaster, that’s how I feel about blue. Nasty pathetic little things. Dungeness is sweet and meaty and doesn’t require Old Bay, which by the way tastes like it’s made with dust collected from a stale attic. |
| I go to a crab feast every year and I’d say that most people eat 8-12. |
Will someone please tell me what this apparently inside joke means? |
I know. It’s pitiful, but in my old age I’m just not so hungry anymore. 1 fried chicken thigh, 1 crab (plus quite a bit of melted butter with lemon), 1 corn on the cob, a little coleslaw and I’m done. Could eat 5-6 large back in the day. |

Thanks. At least now I understand the reference, but, honestly, I didn’t find that the least bit funny. Must be missing something. |
winner. |
| Ask where the crabs are from. Most are not local this year. |
It's not the love, it's the picking. I'm not from MD and it takes me forever. Unless someone ntakes pity and picks for me I'm over it after two. |
| A true crab eater can finish a dozen or so. |
You had to be there. For vaguely similar vibe, check out the current “lmc but snags old money” thread. Hilarious. Someone even tried to get Jeff to lock the thread because the responses were unhelpful. The thread is my current comic relief. |

5-6 per person is fine. Some people will eat 8-12 and some will have 1-3 so it evens out. And the people who are into it aren’t gonna be annoyed if they *only* get 9. The real question is half bushel or bushel. That said, you really want to get a count of Marylanders vs not, men v women, adults+teens vs little kids.
We do a crab feast every year and have 8 local crab eaters, a bunch of kids who will eat 0-3 and a few adults who eat 0-2. We got a bushel this year and had about 10 leftover that we picked and made crab soup with. For just six of us plus kids I’d have done a half bushel. |
