When dating a single mom

At some point kids go to college. Would she still be undeserving with you as a single woman with grown up kids???

I like to date multiple moms, not just a single mom.

What happened?

I don't know what happened. She broke up with me.

You dodged a bullet, man. Learn the proper lesson and never even think about moving in with a single mom.

Unless the idea of paying to support her kids while they disrespect you and constantly shout "you're not my real dad!" is somehow appealing?

As a single mom, I would never let you move in with me. I got rid of dead weight when I divorced their father. I don't need a man child to take care of again.

You are a divorced mom. You aren’t a single mom. There is a huge difference.

I'm very much a single mom. I have 100% custody and he pays almost nothing in child support. But thanks for mansplaining that to me.

But he pays something and there is a father in their lives. You don’t get to bare the “single mom” cross, martyr.

You called me a martyr, not me. I AM a single mom since I do ALL of the parenting on my own, so you can just F all the way off.

True. Dating a single mom is like playing some other dude's saved game.

But single dads (you know the ones who fathered the children of single moms) are very desirable. They are a catch, right?

Many of them don't go away to college, or they return after college and live with mom forever.

Please do better than "some other dude's saved game." I weep for your parents' sake.

I weep even more if they wasted money sending you to college.

There comes a time when a man should put down the video game controller and pick up something else. Like a book, a hammer, or a toy his child has left on the floor.

For you, PP, that time is now.

Not really. A lot of divorced fathers fall off the map, especially if the divorce was caused by an affair. My ex-h went 11 months without seeing our child.

I am in my 50s and was dating a mom my age. We had a ton of fun together and the sex was inconsistent but sometimes incredibly hot. Her kid came back from college. Now I never see her. She texts me once a week. She always has other plans with her kid or her friends. Maybe she would have dumped me anyway but I think that having a young adult child around has changed things.

Women would always be closer to their kids as they age, then grand children etc. It's a circle of life. But in your case, you probably had little to offer her beside dating. Should you married, bought a joint home together, then you would have a real say where her kid should or should not live. The kid would not have 'returned to mom"

You didn't have much to offer or commit, so she opted to have more time with her immediate family and friends. Don't see anything wrong with that

A lot of these weirdos have "son husbands", grown up sons living with mom, in the role of "man of the house". It's gross.

I mean, do you have statistics to prove this statement ? What exact percentage of make college grads move in back to live with divorced moms?

I disagree.

The definition of a single mom includes mothers who are divorced. They are single. They live alone with their kids. Sometimes they share custody, sometimes they don't.

Most people don’t use this definition.

Says a married Mom?
