Your DH is not smart, PP. |

For the items I buy at Wegman's, their prices are lower than comparable stores (Harris Teeter in my area), and I go there specifically for those items.
I have to agree with PPs about the produce: I was disappointed. For the overall quality of the store, I was surprised that the produce did not stay fresh and/or didn't even look good in the store. Because I had that experience a few times I don't even look at their produce now. It could have been isolated cases for me and would be better if I tried again, but I'm too leery of wasting money. I've also had that experience with some Trader Joe's produce items, but not all, so I'm particular about which produce I'll purchase there. |
I'm the first PP who mentioned produce not lasting. I've had the same experience enough times, spread out over several months that I asked to speak to a manager and mentioned it to him. He seemed very disinterested. |

The sushi is fine for grocery store sushi.
The salmon is usually good. I like the prepared meals (usually marinated meat in a plastic bag) like stews etc. that you can just pick up and put in the oven or crock pot. They are more expensive than making it from scratch but they are consistently good and my family eats them pretty happily. The pot pies and quiches are also good. Bakery products are overpriced but good, and the cheese and olive bar selections are great. There's nothing special about the produce, and nothing very competitively priced about the rest of the pantry and dairy items. I was recently surprised how inexpensive the 365 brand and bulk items are at Whole Foods. |
| Soup, salad bar and hot foods bar are overpriced and not very good. |
I agree with this. I tried the new Wegmans in Alexadria twice. The produce was so fresh and beautiful, and the prices were not bad. But loaded up my cart with the rest of my weekly usuals, and both times the total was probably 20% more than my usual shop at Giant. |
| I’m interested to hear those perspectives on the produce. The produce at my local store in Crofton is so fresh and beautiful that it has honestly ruined me for Giant and Safeway. I sometimes run into Giant on my way to pick up my kids because it is so close to their after care, and I get really annoyed if I have to grab even a bunch of bananas or a container of blueberries. I don’t discount the other posters’ experience, but it’s just so different from our Wegmans, which is several classes above the produce anywhere else in Crofton. (Though Aldi is my second favorite in the area.) |
| Oh shit, here I was cursing my life because I never shopped at Wegmans. Thank you for saving me from a life of torment! |
Have you never baked bread? Fresh bread always goes bad very quickly. Stuff full of preservatives will last forever. |

I LOVE Wegmans but those cookies are stupidly expensive. I’ll pay the jacked up price for their iced sugar cookies but chocolate chip? Forget it.
Wegmans produce is superior to everyone else’s though, incl Whole Foods |
Both stores are $14.99 now? I thought around 2020 they were 8.99 range. Did several orders from each store back in the day. |
Have you been living in a cave since 2020? What could have possibly caused a spike in prices? Hmmm |
| You are completely right! These days it is a rip off. When it was 8 dollars per lbs it was also not cheap, but prices today are nuts. Their mac and cheese that I used to et for dd was 12 dollars, I don't even look today. |
Agreed, our Wegmans is the only store that approximates Whole Foods in quality of produce and meat. The stuff at the Harris Teeter and Giant is poor by comparison (although it's been a long time since I looked at Giant's produce - it was so bad back when it was our only nearby option that I haven't been there in years). |
Whole Foods isn’t 14.99. It’s 9.99. I go once a week because, if I’m ordering mindfully, it’s the cheapest dining out option in my very near vicinity. |
