Wegmans is a ripoff

OP your box was more than 1 egg roll, a tiny portion or rice, and a tiny portion of chicken. C’mon you loaded that baby up!

I get a small portion and it's about $8.00.

Great store, but the horrible parking, pushy patrons with their oversized carts, and crowds are a dealbreaker.

I don’t get the love for Wegman’s at all. Quality and price are both poor. I think it’s just nostalgia from those who grew up in NY.

The only thing that is NOT a rip-off there, IMO, is the produce. It is competitively priced, but is far superior to anywhere else. The meats, poultry, fish are massively over-priced. The bakery is excellent and fairly priced, but not worth the trip. I really only go for produce.

It’s light-years better than Giant or Safeway.

Lol. Been going to Wegmans for 15+ years and have never once hated going in there.

The sushi is terrible, I don’t know how it gets recommended so often. Not cheap either

I don't think it is any different from any other store. It's ok, but it is a bit far away from me, so not worth the drive when stores close by are just as good.

I shop at Wegman’s regularly but never for the food bar or hygiene products, neither of which I would ever consider them a place for. What I do think of them for is good quality meat, fish, produce, fancy cheeses, nice bakery items, milk, and wide selection of beer and wine at good prices.

They really push their house brand for pantry items and it is mostly decent and consistent but I sometimes shop elsewhere for a few national brand items we prefer. The meat and fish may be more expensive than other grocery stores but the quality compared to my Giant for example is much better.

I have zero connection to NY state.

“I don’t like food bars, so I went to a food bar, and I didn’t like it.”

Amazing story, bro.

Fresh seafood, great cheese selection, great meat section and knowledgeable butcher, specialty items like truffle butter, beautiful produce, wonderful pasta and sauces the variety of which I can’t find at any other grocery store, nice kitchenware section that is very helpful when I need to pick something up before the holidays like a new sheet pan…

But hey, you didn’t like the egg roll, so feel free to stay away. I like it when the store is empty.

So you’re not…allowed?

I live 5 minutes away and on weekday mornings at about 8, then come home in time to start my WFH day at 9. It’s always empty, and just like heaven. Around the holidays, I go early on a weekday morning and am all stocked up and safely ensconced at home before the madness starts.

I mean, it’s grocery store sushi.
