Wegmans is a ripoff

I've only been to Wegman's once since there is not one near my area yet (close-in MoCo.) The one time that I did, I was underwhelmed. Expensive and not nearly as awesome as I'd been led to believe by all the hype.

It’s the Wegmans brand stuff that is so good and much cheaper than the brand name.

Wegmans brand Nutella is better than real Nutella.

I sometimes run into Giant on my way to pick up my kids because it is so close to their after care, and I get really annoyed if I have to grab even a bunch of bananas or a container of blueberries. I don’t discount the other posters’ experience, but it’s just so different from our Wegmans, which is several classes above the produce anywhere else in Crofton. (Though Aldi is my second favorite in the area.)

That crofton wegmans is the one closest to me and I love their produce, also.

I love the plain full fat yogurt. It’s my favorite.

Wegman’s is great for their prepared foods and their branded items. I also think they do well on their meats, fish, and cheeses. For fruit and vegetables, I still think Whole Foods just lasts longer.

Oh, you are absolutely right! Total rip-off and waste of time. Stay away! Stay far, far away! Do not park in the parking lot or stand in front of me at the checkout. Keep your cart out of my way in the aisles. Wegmans should be empty, I tell you—empty! It’s just not worth it! Please especially spare yourself around the holidays. I’m glad you recognize this—spread the word! No one but me should go to Wegmans.

Yes. Wegmans has far and away the best, freshest, and most neatly-arranged produce section IMO. They have an extensive selection of leafy greens--like escarole, which for some reason I can never find anywhere else. Their mushroom section has a ton of options, too.

The last time I checked prices, Giant sold regular milk for $4.79 a gallon, and Wegmans was $3.29. I think Wegmans is always a better deal for basic items. You spend a lot more if you go for the specialty deli, bakery, and prepared foods.

Yes, this. For regular stuff, Wegmans is finely priced. However what makes Wegman’s so special is the speciality food and that is the stuff that they make loom so beautiful and is located right near the front entrance. So I think of that stuff was special/party/treat food.

I went there yesterday. So many of the prices at Wegmans so high i just had to laugh!

I don't understand Wegmans. Half of it looks like WF but too crowded and looks messier. The other half looks like Costco. I hate Costco.

What’s there to understand? It’s a popular grocery store that tends to get crowded.

I have never seen that. You can get a regular box of fresh chocolate chip cookies for either 4.50, or 6.50 for the larger one.

I once bought them too without looking at the price....15$ They were excellent but only for a special treat. The ones I bake at home are excellent too.

Wegman’s for your staples is reasonably priced, but for my shopping I prefer Giant or Aldi. Smaller stores, which I prefer- easier to get in and out of. While I appreciate the vast selection that Wegman’s offers, it’s too much.

Finally, all food bars are a ripoff, including Wegman’s.
