| Almost 13 and he goes to bed by 9 or 9:30. I get antsy if he isn’t in bed by 9:30. He has to be up at 6:30 for school. But he is an early riser anyway so he doesn’t fight going to bed. |
Wait what? Your youngest dictates what the older one can and can not do because you can’t parent your kids? I loathe parents with no backbone and raise whiny ass kids. The older one stays up later and gets more privileges. That’s life. You gonna raise them like twins so the younger one doesn’t cry?

It is still light out at 8:15

So kids get phones at 11yrs old to look at porn and social media, but still have Mommy tucking them in at 8:30?
What kind of backwards world are we living in? |
| My almost 12 year old goes to bed at 10 pm and wakes up at 8 am for a 9 am school start. She’s a natural night owl. Would stay up all night if we let her. |
| 11 yo: Not hard and fast rule, but all ready, in bed by 9:00 but can stay up reading (I rarely check but assume asleep around 10, although some nights she claims to have read until midnight). Wakes up at 7:30. |
| We aim for earlier but usually 9:30-9:45. |
| Screentime starts at 11 |
| 11yo (5th grade) goes to bed at 9. Up at 7:15. |
yes |
Very few people are saying anything in the 8pm hour. Standard answer seems to be 9 to 9:30. As for my own kid, I offered 9 to 9:15pm and that's school nights. In the summer and on weekends, depends what else is going on but I try not to let it go past 10:30/11 just because my particular kid doesn't sleep in much. |
| 12 yr old around 10pm |
+1 The older one will 100% resent the younger brother but they aren’t whining so lazy mom doesn’t care |
No, most are saying between 8-9pm for their middle schoolers. |
