SNAP recipients represent different races and/or ethnicities. White: about 37 percent; African American: 26 percent; Hispanic: 16 percent; Asian: 3 percent; and Native American: about 2 percent. (About 16 percent of participants are categorized as “race unknown.”) Given that Ward 3 is majority "White" and elderly, it's likely many of them receive some sort of housing/rental assistance as well. |
Link? Even if this is the case, the best evidence is an interpretation of what he said by a rando DC DSA member on Twitter? The way I’ve seen white people throw around the word racist lately, I’m going to need more evidence. No way I am going to take this on trust, particularly being so conveniently close to the big endorsement freak out. I still call BS. |
Twitter is not real life. Snoop Dogg recently posted on Twitter that he was going to buy Twitter. Should I believe that too? |
That they haven’t speaks volumes |
This is comically absurd. We are basically the Portland, WA, politically, of the East Coast. We have the wokest of the woke. It shows with things like the Youth Rehab Act, our policies for parental leave. |
|
Shameful. Some of you are trying to excuse bigoted if not outright racist comments by a Democratic candidate for office.
Riddle me this: why did the Chamber of Commerce write earlier in the week and in response to a candidate request to share the video “We will post the video.”? But now they refuse? They watched the tape themselves and realize what he said. |
| I don’t trust anything these days. I wouldn’t be surprised if this thread was an astroturf campaign tactic by an opposing candidate. |
| Would it be racist to talk about crime and statistics? |
I'm assuming Eric has found this thread. |

The more I hear about Goulet, the worse he sounds.
Who is supporting him? Where is his money coming from? |
It’s clearly a very small group of people trying to orchestrate a rumor campaign against him. I know nothing about Goulet except that he’s been endorsed by the Post and that there are people trying to smear him on hear. I’m sure the two are related. |
|
There were at least 100 people watching the stream online. The Chamber had said they were going to release the video and are now not.
That in and of itself is a story. Why put on a forum like this and not educate the public about the candidates? |
So all these people, including prominent people in the community involved, and the only evidence is anonymous internet posts? Let’s use some critical thinking here. |
Any one of those 100 people want to put their name to an account of what he said? |
|
Here’s your tip:
1) Call Brett Allen of the Chamber of Commerce and ask him if on May 11 he wrote that the forum video would be posted. Report back his answer — verbatim — here. 2) Ask any of the council candidates that were in attendance at the forum what he said. Frumin spoke directly after him. Monash spoke after that. I think Brown too, but I don’t remember that too well. Everyone who spoke after him called him out for his comments. |
