The DC Chamber of Commerce hosted a Ward 3 Council candidate forum two weeks ago. The debate was recorded.
During the debate, candidate Eric Ghoulet equated non-white residents of Ward 3 with voucher recipients, indicating that he viewed them as one-and-the-same. Other candidates immediately called him out on it. Several people including fellow candidates asked the Chamber for the video. They said they would share it. The Chamber of Commerce now says they won't release the video of the event. |
|
Fellow candidates are drafting a letter asking the Chamber to share the video. Each candidate was asked to sign on to the request.
Goulet said that asking the Chamber to share the video was inappropriate. Yet, ironically, he doesn’t view his racist comments as inappropriate. Quite the candidate we got here… |
'' Goulet, not Ghoulet. |
| Post needs to withdraw their endorsement. |
| If it's acceptable to be anti-Semitic on the DC council then why is it problematic to be racist or classist? |
It is not acceptable to be anti-Semitic on the DC Council. Next question? |
|
This really undermines the credibility of both the Chamber AND Goulet.
It is truly shameful. The man made a very racist comment. It needs to be brought to light so the voters know what they would be getting. |
And yet, Trayvon White, who said Jews control the weather (among other heinously anti-Semitic statements) is on the DC Council. Nice attempt to deflect though. |
Don't forget the Post. |
| If it's out there, it will come out. |
| Maybe I'm not imaginative enough, but is there a possible explanation other than the Chamber is in the tank for Goulet? |
It absolutely is acceptable both to voters and to Trayon's fellow council members, who did nothing to sanction him. |
What practical repercussion is there on a sanction? |
No. The Washington Post and Charter School lobby is trying to make Goulet happen. If you look at his support, it trails significantly other candidates https://dcgeekery.com/dc-campaign-finance/2022/council-ward-3 108 Ward based donors (ie voters) a few days before early voting starts is paltry. |
You racists have never bothered to even attempt to get Trayon's name correctly. |
