That was exactly me: it was NOT about the "fetus" or the "baby-to-be" or being a parent-- I could NOT STAND being PREGNANT. Imagine the disgust you feel when you saw those worms coming out of the mouth/eyes in that other thread? That's how I felt while being pregnant-- a giant worm/parasite growing in me. I would have killed myself without a chance to abortion.

Wow, that's a first.

It is very true for me. To the point that if we ever have an artificial uterus where I could "export" the product of conception and go my merry way, I would not see need for abortion anymore. For me, it is ALL about BODILY AUTONOMY, and the government not forcing me to GROW SOMETHING IN MY BODY against my will. The PREGNANCY is the problem, what it does to a woman body is the problem for me, and many other pro-choice women. And why "adoption" or "safe heaven laws" are no solution.

So that's the only alternative? Stop with the fake worst case scenarios.

What’s the alternative better scenario? For those who need an abortion and are stuck in the middle of anti-abortion states and can’t afford to fly to go get one?

Yes, what exactly do you think happens when women don’t have access to safe, legal abortions?

Maybe you didn’t think this one through…

Um, maybe they 1) Don't have sex (or use birth control), 2) They carry the baby to term and raise her or 3) They put the baby up for adoption.

There are more alternatives than just getting an abortion.

None of those is actually an alternative to not being pregnant, which is what these women want and need.

So if you’re pregnant, and you don’t want to be pregnant, and you can’t get a safe, legal abortion, you are going to reach for the coat hanger. This has happened before, it’s happening in other places in the world, and it will happen again. Sorry to poke a hole in your idealistic no-abortion vision.

You don't know this. Do you have any stats?

Are you very young? You’re not aware of this?

https://www.npr.org/2019/05/20/725139713/what-abortion-was-like-in-the-u-s-before-roe-v-wade

“Immediately before Roe v. Wade, officially approximately 200 women died per year. ”

You should be forbidden from voting again. By force if necessary.

I think the government should take responsibility for the unwanted babies, and support them through adulthood and college. Daddy government.

Also, unmarried fathers should owe child support backdated to conception.

You're worse that Trump or Youngkin. I guess only people who agree with you should vote? Wait, don't answer that.

SAVE THIS THREAD.

When you all find out the REAL reason for abortion wars I promise your views on this will change.
And you will find out soon. Buckle up. It's going to be a very emotional ride. One you may not be prepared for.

Not even a little bit. Way to go VA voters. You get what you voted for.

The majority of us in NOVA did NOT vote for him. We can't help it that we're dragged down by the rest of our state.

Please educate yourself on all of the possible medical reasons that an abortion would be required. But of course you won't.

So you want my sister, whose much wanted and highly anticipated baby developed in utero without a brain stem, to carry the baby to term knowing it would die within hours of birth? You are ok with her going through the torture for months on end of walking around visibly pregnant, with every random stranger in the grocery store asking her about the baby and touching her belly and asking when she's due and whether it's a boy or girl, all the while knowing that there was zero percent chance that this baby would live? You are ok with her going into labor and having to deliver a baby knowing that it would die? You are a truly evil and disgusting person. I don't believe in hell, but if it exists, as between you and my sister who had an abortion, you are the one who belongs there.

Make Virginia 1980s Romania
Maybe the Catholic Church will start their forced adoptions again. That will make wealthy GOPers happy.

Best thing just wear a condom. I know it's really really hard to pay fifty cents and go through the terrible task of opening and putting it on. But surprisingly, it works!
