| Well…duh |
Um, maybe they 1) Don't have sex (or use birth control), 2) They carry the baby to term and raise her or 3) They put the baby up for adoption. There are more alternatives than just getting an abortion. |
None of those is actually an alternative to not being pregnant, which is what these women want and need. So if you’re pregnant, and you don’t want to be pregnant, and you can’t get a safe, legal abortion, you are going to reach for the coat hanger. This has happened before, it’s happening in other places in the world, and it will happen again. Sorry to poke a hole in your idealistic no-abortion vision. |
You don't know this. Do you have any stats? |
Exactly. If women don’t want to be pregnant they will find a way. Many will die without access to safe, legal abortion. You have blood on your hands. Actual, real-life living and breathing women who are members of families, have jobs, maybe already have children will die. That is the reality. |
Oh dear. This is so typical of anti-abortion folks and it makes my blood boil, and yet it’s not surprising. They are just basing their opinions on the few facts and religions beliefs they have in their brains, rather than getting informed about the world. With the caveat that I am using “reaching for the coat hanger” as a metaphor for all self-induced, unsafe, illegal abortions, yes I do know this. And you could too. If I thought for a minute that posting articles about it and stories about it would change your mind, I would do it. But most anti - abortion folks aren’t interested in facts, they are interested in maintaining their opinions and even in the face of cold hard facts they will continue to cling in their beliefs. I have to say I was once very anti - abortion and I did the same thing so I don’t condemn you for it. But I do invite you to use google.com. |
Maybe the Catholic Church will start their forced adoptions again. That will make wealthy GOPers happy. |

For all of you complaining about Youngkin- please vote on Nov 8th.
We are one state legislator from banning abortions in this state. Vote. |
Those alternatives include 1) Men not assaulting women 2) Women not being raped for "what they wore" 3) Dates/Boyfriends understanding the need to ask for consent, even when they are under the influence... but those alternatives do not account for women who will leave their husbands a widow and children motherless to protect a fetus that has not even taken a breath in this world. |

So if you’re pregnant, and you don’t want to be pregnant, and you can’t get a safe, legal abortion, you are going to reach for the coat hanger. That was exactly me: it was NOT about the "fetus" or the "baby-to-be" or being a parent-- I could NOT STAND being PREGNANT. Imagine the disgust you feel when you saw those worms coming out of the mouth/eyes in that other thread? That's how I felt while being pregnant-- a giant worm/parasite growing in me. I would have killed myself without a chance to abortion. |
We actually do have stats, abortion death in the US plummeted in the mid 70s- can you think of any reason? |
| I hope they governor will budget a lot of money to take care of the unwanted babies and mothers in living poverty in virginia. It's the Christian thing to do. |
Wow, that's a first. |
Pregnancy is so odd. When I wanted the pregnancy, it felt like the most exciting miraculous thing ever (morning sickness excepted). When I didn’t, it truly felt like a parasite threatening to harm me. And the weird thing is that both are kind of true. There are few things happier than a wanted pregnancy, and few things more devastating than an unwanted one when you can’t get an abortion. |
I think the government should take responsibility for the unwanted babies, and support them through adulthood and college. Daddy government. |
