Private & Independent Schools
| Those other schools are not like Landon pp. Landon has its own sort of problems with their entitlement mindset among several students...much more so than the other schools. |
Because I am bored to death about people talking endlessly about the "Big 3", WPPSI and all. This Landon stuff is really interesting...that's why.

Agree, PP. |
| Amen. In real life, who ever talks about the "Big 3"? And, for those who know the Love situation, they know this is not a Landon problem. Yes, Landon has a tarnished image because the boy went there and the falsely accused Duke players went there and there was a cheating scandal. But, like most problems, this was a family problem. Parents who did not discipline their child. Parents who tolerated violent behavior. Lay off Landon. |
| Not that simple to brush away responsibility for Landon pp. The kid spent more time at Landon than he did at home with his parents. |
| Ok, then why aren't you blaming UVA? Spent 4 years there, too. |
| There's no denying the ties to Landon and UVA. We focus on Landon in the DCUM forum because Landon is a local school and Landon is known locally for elevating sports, epecially lacrosse, above many other values that are important in students' character development. |

I just stumbled on this thread - my kids go to Landon.
It is easy to find flaws in any person, place or school, especially after the tragedy at UVA. However, I will tell you the landon community that I know has lined up to support my family with time, energy love and support in the face of a family crisis. I was touched that they would reach out to us as they did, but not surprised, because I have seen them do it so many times before - to people facing large and small challenges. I see families and boys from all economic brackets and diverse talents. |
| sorry, the x was a typo - |

(continuing - computer wouldn't let me type)
While Landon is not perfect, it has much to be proud of - it's commitment to develop boys into caring men, remains an important part of the schools emphasis and is one of the reasons our sons attend. It offers a wonderful arts curriculum as well as an athletic program for nearly every athletic level. Perhaps Landon is not for everyone, but it is not because the culture is uncaring, indifferent, or entitled. There are an amazing number of caring compasisionate families at Landon, and the community is grieving at the tragedy at UVA. |
| You would have to call me a Landon basher. But the bumping of Landon related topics is getting absurd. |
ITA. Someone is really determined to keep the Landon threads alive. |

After reading more than three pages of pretty negative comments about my kids school, I felt the need to respond - so I am only responding to the many, many negative comments here on the board with no agenda other than to give a first hand reflection of my experience at Landon and the many really nice and many compassionate people that are part of the community.
