What happens if a child fails MCAP Algebra test?

I noticed that the AP exam is scheduled for May 1st at the same time as the MCAP Government test. Does my child have to take both tests?

Mine took the AP Gov exam as a freshman, and now as a sophomore their grad-progress form lists “requirement met—alternate exam taken.” So no, they don’t have to take the state exam if they take the AP.

FWIW, I seem to remember kids were told they only had to take the AP exam, that no specific score was needed to meet the requirement. But you may want to check that this is still the case.

I know last year they had a waiver and did not need to pass.

I think it had more to do with shaking out the bugs with this new and unproven test.

So my kid will have to take Algebra again if they fail their MCAP?

if they made you retake it, half the state would be in that boat.

They retake the test, not the class. After they incorporate the test score into the course score next year, you would have to retake the course if you end up with a failing course grade.
