| Do they retake the class in summer or the next school year? Do they then have to pass the new test or are they good to move on? |
| For this year? For last school year, over 95% of MD students failed the exam. The determination was if you passed the class and took the test (regardless of whether or not reached meeting expectations on the MCAP), you met the graduation requirement |
|
Nothing. Almost all the kids failed the MCAP this year. MCPS has said it’s NBD. Kids have already been taking Geometry.
There will be a Geometry MCAP this year. |
|
I mean for this year when things are supposedly back to normal since it's a graduation requirement.
I know last year they had a waiver and did not need to pass. |
Tell your kid the formulas are in one of the tabs on the test. The instructions don't say so! |
| Our MCPS high school told us at last night’s PTA meeting that this school year 2021-2022 is the last year students have to only participate in MCAP but not have to pass. Next school year 2022-2023 returns to normal pre-Covid MCAP graduation requirements. |
| Was the test waived entirely for kids who took Algebra I in 2019-2020? |
| Yes, the test was waived entirely for kids who took Algebra I in 2019-2020. |
Thank you PP. What math testing requirements are required for graduation now? In addition to Algebra do they need to also pass Geometry? |
No, as long as they pass Algebra |
My kid said they told them that. |
In the fall it was not included in the state provided Geometry instructions. Perhaps they have fixed it. |
| They didn't tell my child that. |
More likely, it was said, but your child didn’t hear it. - teacher who will repeat the same directions to the entire class 3 times, and then have 5 students separately ask about the this I just said, so I repeat it again. |
| My 8th grade TPMS magnet student (taking geometry now) said the teacher warned them that the last month or so of school will be just constant testing, with maybe one week of a break in tests. DC is pissed and really prefers actual learning, especially to prepare for their being the the Blair STEM magnet next year. |
