Chances to get in either?

Both are good. I'm not bullish on people taking their Cooper spots. I'm #10 and really on the fence as to whether it's worth the chance.

ITS is a lock, but move very quickly because they'll give you about 48 hours to accept and submit paperwork.

The fact that a buddy of my kid matched and is going (allegedly) is why l am considering - but that building does look bad 😅

The building is awful. All the "plans" are so half-baked. I don't care for our current school, but I guess there's something about the dysfunction you know, ha

Wait-list #s-
#14 Hearst
#22 Murch
#12 Mann
#16 Eaton

etc
#got an offer at Hyde Addison
#12 Shepherd
#8 at Inspired Teaching

ITS for sure, but the actual offer might not come for a while. Don't know about the others.

LAMB South Dakota Waitlisted - #18
Powell English Dominant Waitlisted - #40

DC Bilingual PCS Waitlisted - #37
Stokes - Brookland Spanish Waitlisted - #29

Any chance? Currently matched at both Bethune (waitlist offer) and Dorothy Height.

Curious to know which school people would choose between Hyde Addison and ITS (starting at Kindergarten)? Would the answer change knowing that the commute to HA was twice as long? Thanks.

ITS for sure. It's a toss up so commute should be a major factor. You can get into HA later if you still want to.

Forgot to say for PK3!

PK3

Stevens Early Learning Center - #60
Thomson Elementary School - #16

These are near our offices, so that's why we like them. We live in-bounds for Hyde-Addison, majorly annoyed they removed PK3 right when we needed it

Matched at Meridian PCS. Still waiting to hear back from Communikids, Rosemount, and Kiddie Academy on their separate lotteries.

I can’t wager a guess off of the historical data, and curious if anyone has insight.

They will move up to the front of the waitlist and probably get in.

But the #14 should already reflect sibling preference?

I think they have to register the other one to get sibling preference.

That’s not how the lottery works. The sibling’s number is pulled up immediately in the lottery via “sibling offered” preference. Registering one sibling doesn’t then give the waitlisted sibling an additional preference — “sibling attending” only applies if the child is actually currently attending. The definitions even give this very situation as an example.

If you live IB for Hyde-Addison you don't need free PK (you want it), meanwhile you have matched for preK in a neighborhood where more kids actually need it.

Definitely possible for LAMB, but you're right on the cusp. They backfill with pk3 kids when older kids leave. It would probably be after school started. Definitely check in with them late in the summer and let them know you're still interested.

No shot at Powell. Right on the line for Mundo. Very unlikely DC Bilingual and Stokes.

Going to be a looooong summer, PP. Good luck!

This isn't a thread for being judgey-judys.

NP. Perhaps not but this is such a permanent pet peeve of mine in these lottery threads that I personally support the call out. No one feels sorry for people like this and they need to learn to stop trying to seek sympathy on these boards for this situation. It's so tiresome. Universal PK was not adopted in DC in order to make sure families IB for Hyde-Addison would have an easy commute for free PK. This is not a real problem, just an inconvenience for people who can afford to pay to make inconveniences go away.

DCPS could easily make free pk income limited. They have not. So people who live IB for Hyde are just as entitled to free pk as everyone else.

They are, but they aren't entitled to complaining about it not being within two miles of their homes. I see 20+ schools with short or no WL for PK3
