They know that they have a highly vulnerable unvaccinated population, and if they let COVID rip, they are big time screwed. Rock and a hard place. |
Can anyone explain the reasoning for their approach? I just don’t see how they are ever going to come out of this. |
| They must save face by pretending they can control the virus. They can't. The chickens have come home to roast. Enjoy your virus China. |

Or Xi is just using 'COVID' as an excuse/cover to mess with supply chains in order to inflict pain on the US via inflation. |
They are shrinking their own economy with these zero Covid policies. |
They've put themselves in a nearly-unescapable box. |
At this point I don’t see how this could be some big scheme to disrupt the US economy. It’s affecting their own economy too much. |
What they are doing is making other countries want to do business elsewhere. As a consumer, I don't want to buy anything 'made in China'. Right now I have a stack of Covid tests with the label that reads "Made in China". It makes me sick to see it. |
+1. While I've always tried to buy Made in US products (I even drive a domestic car, so I really put my money where my mouth is), if I pick something up off the shelf and see Made in China, I put it back. Luckily my US gov't covid tests are South Korean, but it really galls me to see a Made in China test, as well as face masks. |
