Looks like multiple cities are on total lockdown. Is this just their Omnicon surge and the gov entrant is overreacting? Or something else?

| BA2 variant and they need to pretend they can't hear Putin asking for help |
| Perfect storm after the Olympics. |
| What’s happening is they you can’t hide forever from an extremely contagious virus. It was only a matter of time. |
|
Their vaccine sucks and they opted for a scarey 0 cases -type policy instead of allowing any sort of herd immunity to naturally occur over the past 2.5 yrs.
They were culling hamsters for goodness sakes in their ridiculously zealous effort to be completely free from covid. |
| They haven't learned to live with it. |
+1 Avoiding getting sucked into Ukraine. Very clever if you ask me. |
😂 |
They can't just live with it. |
Yep no one can, despite how many times people will type it here over and over again |
+1 Their policies don't work. It's just whack a mole and now they just look silly. They didn't try very hard to vaccinate their elderly and have a low vaccine rate for that population and a lot of their cases are with elderly patients. |
| Scary population control |

The Chinese vaccine is not effective against Omicron, and an outbreak in Hong Kong spread across the border to Shenzhen.
Interestingly, the outbreak in Hong Kong was due to the stupid 21-day quarantine, as a person on the last days of quarantine was infected across a hallway from a new arrival. They were both in the same hotel and when the doors to both of their rooms were opened (due to meal service) the virus crossed the hallway and the person at the end of quarantine left with the new person's virus undetected. (They genetically sequence all the cases in Hong Kong, or at least did in the early days of this fifth wave) |

Unfortunately, cases are leveling out here in the US and the next variant will make them tick up, freaking everyone back into mask-wearing once again.
Rinse and repeat. |
LOL My guess is that things are way worse in China than any of us can even guess. |
