This. I vaccinated my kids, too, but the only thing that justifies a mandate by a school district is a high efficacy against transmission, which this vaccine turns out not to have. If it’s just reducing the already minimal odds of hospitalization, it becomes a matter of individual choice. |
| What the heck is the downside of no masks in schools? I am aware people could still get covid. My family got it 3 weeks ago after 2 years of being very carefull and following all the rules. We are vaccinated. At this point in time, I could give a shit about the unvaccinated. |
The vaccine will get full authorization, whether or not it is required, depends on schools. Hopefully, they will mandate - but I think they should mandate flu vaccine, too. |
They will not follow through with a mandate. The majority of students won’t get vaccinated under 12. |

What school does this individual teach at? |

Masks are optional and both sides need to get over it and themselves.
No one is going to change anyone’s mind from here. Step 1: If you don’t like it, go to Bowser’s office. Step 2: get over your ego. Mandates are over. Move on. |

💯💯💯 |
Pretty sure the people with kids in DCPS who wanted the mask mandate lifted are perfectly happy to move on. It’s those who wanted the mandate to stay who will need to get over themselves and live with the fact that other people’s kids are going to unmask. |
Well, I’m pretty sure there is a very significant overlap between those who wanted the mandate lifted and those who opposed the virtual and hybrid BS that happened for way too long. And they had to deal with it and move on for a year and a half. About time we are back to normal. |
| Does this apply to charters as well? I sure hope so. |
Oh, I completely agree, and I am happy the mandate is lifted. I just thought it was weird that the PP felt the need to admonish "both sides" to "get over it and themselves", when we are finally allowed to move on in the direction we have wanted for so long. |
Every charter will make their own decision, but yes, they are allowed to drop their mask mandates as well. |
No. Charters can make their own rules. At least DC Health guidance now supports allowing masks optional in k-12. |
