My son was an extremely picky eater and loved junk food. On a nutritionist suggestion, I enrolled him at age 7 in a cooking class and he started eating the healthy foods he made including salad! Then he started grocery shopping with me and picking out his own fruit and vegetables as well as some main courses. We started using that chick pea pasta instead of regular white flour pasta and the kids didn’t even notice. Dave’s makes a Killer White Bread that is more healthful and delicious.
Your husband isn’t going to change. But you can absolutely get your kid to change. |

Believe it or not, none of this matters that much. Stop battling with your husband. Let him give them Mac and cheese and ice cream. I was you, thinking I was making organic natural sugar free stuff forever. I’d be furious with DH for letting them get slurpies and chips at 7-11.
The kids grow up. My oldest is now in high school and an athlete. He’s been through so many phases and now eats well because he wants to. He also like to go out with friends and get junk food sometimes. That’s okay. He packs a lunch every day. My kids in elementary enjoy the school lunch so I’m letting them eat the junky food this year without any stress. It’s less for me to pack. We have healthy options in the house and eat well most nights. The older they get, the less control either you or your husband will have over what they eat. |
I would rather my kid ate pizza and ice cream every day than be a nasty snob. |
