those euphemisms might work for your power point presentations, but reality is that, in the past 20+ years, NATO has killed (bombed, starved etc) hundreds of thousands of people, many of them civilians. this, in addition to destroying tends of billions of dollar of infrastructure and creating political instability in numerous countries. that is what NATO is. |
The history teacher at DD’s private distributed educational materials around the Russian invasion of Ukraine and they are discussing at school. |

Correct, like that time or two the U.N. invaded Iraq, or U.S. in Libya, or . . . |

People are conflating NATO and the U.N. in this discussion. There is a big difference. |

My 11 year old with anxiety is very worried about a nuclear strike. Having a tough time reassuring him. |
yes, I'm a satisfied Gonzaga parent today. |
UN was involved in the first war in Iraq. That was when it was understood that there needed to be world-wide consensus about attacking sovereign countries. There have been no such consensus afterwards. UN did not approve bombing Syria or Libya into stone age, or starving Yemenis or carving Yugoslavia. None of the NATO missions above were approved by UN where Russia and China have veto powers. |
For $30k/year I can have my own discussions with my kids 😜. But that is a good example of you get what you pay for. |
Curious what educational materials would be satisfactory or effective when the invasion was happening during history class yesterday. But it's better than sticking to the script and ignoring the biggest war advance since WWII. |
Gulf War was bigger. Much bigger. |
. We are very happy with what we pay for - Glad both going on here - talks at home and talks at school. Teens need to discuss wider events with their peers as well. We have used both public and private - the same school is not right for every student, and often they have different needs at different stages of their k-12 education . I love living in an area with good public and private options. It is not either or. |
| I just blame Trump. That's always a safe answer these days. |
