Who sits in the front seat? MIL with her son or his wife?

MIL is tall, so I suggest the front seat to her. I don’t care where I sit.

It is a bit weird. You should offer the front though. Next time drive.

+1 Both my mom and MIL have chosen to sit in the back with the kids at times, but now both have some small health issues that make it easier for them to be in the front.

Yes, but it’s rude for MIL to insist. Thereby not giving OP the chance to be gracious.

Dh and MIL love to chat in the car together. I'm happy in the back.

+1 I would want my MIL in the front seat, also. She could speak more easily to her son and it just seems nicer.

OMG, OP, is this really the hill you want to die on? Why are you so insecure? Spend some more time fixing you and less time worrying about the woman who raised the man you love.

This should not be a question, and the fact it is, says your DH is a douche or a momma's boy.

Unless there is a medical reason, like she gets motion sickness, the MIL sits in the back.

Are you from a conservative family or something?

Not something either of them needs to care about. It should be a non issue for sane people.

Same. And I’m 6’ tall. I think it’s just a courtesy.

It takes grace to deal with rude people
