“Karens” are only white women. From dictionary.com:
Karen is a pejorative slang term for an obnoxious, angry, entitled, and often racist middle-aged white woman who uses her privilege to get her way or police other people’s behaviors. |

1. Field - healthcare
2. Grew up - The Carolinas 3. Age - 24, for a job 4. Retire here? - HELL NO 5. Tone - Depends. Some forums (College, Travel) have been helpful. But sometimes the rudeness rubs off on me and I reflect that tone. I don't like it when that happens. |

1 What field are you in? Seems to be a lot of attorneys
Engineer 2 Where did you grow up? Pacific Northwest 3 At what age did you move to the DMV and why? Early 20s, to try something different. That was 20 years ago! 4 Did you or are you planning to retire here? We'll probably stay here for a while when we first retire, but eventually will settle somewhere a little quieter 5 Does the tone on here bother you? I choose my forums carefully. The food forum is great. The forums dedicated to age groups of different tend to be pretty good. I avoid the school forums and political forums at all cost. Beauty & fashion is hit or miss - some great stuff, but also some really nasty posters who don't appreciate that people can have different styles and opinions. When a thread starts to derail, it rarely turns nice again, so I bail when I start seeing people ragging on each other's choices. |

1. SAHM
2. Alexandria 3. Here except for college 4. Probably somewhere warmer, but I don’t want a red state 5. Only when people act crazy. So, sometimes. |

1 What field are you in? Human Resources 2 Where did you grow up? All over . Military brat. 3 At what age did you move to the DMV and why? Moved here at 24. Briefly left at 29 moved down south and then returned 4 Did you or are you planning to retire here? This is a topic of discussion as we are nearing the age. We have built a life here and it’s very likely we will stay. However cost-of-living is very expensive so it would be cheaper to leave. But then we need to build a new connections. 5 Does the tone on here bother you? yes and no. Yes because there are certain posters who just are mean, but I just overlook them and MoveOn. And no because there are also some very supportive posters who offer good advice. White Female. HHI $400k |

Well educated SAHM married to high earner.
NYC suburbs Early 30s with DH for his work Do not want to retire here. May keep a house here depending on where our 3 kids end up. Not sure where I want to retire. I find DCUM helpful. I try to ignore the snarky rude posters. |
Karen is a pejorative used to demean any middle aged woman whether or not her compliant is valid (and often it is). It’s let’s go Brandon for middle-aged white women—just shut up, we don’t care what you think. Invented by Incels on Reddit and adopted widely by black women after the (horrible) Amy Cooper incident. |
