So it went from $16 to $17/hour? I can't get a babysitter for that. Sorry, that is not "fair". I absolutely think they should be paid at least $30/hour, especially given that there are no benefits. |

The increased pay offer (to $17/hour) is positively insulting. Less than I pay a college kid to babysit.
Sub shortages will continue unless there is an actual meaningful increase in pay - to at least $25/hour. |
Children's National Medical Center used to have a nursing shortage because they so under paid their staff. After paying a consulting firm 1 million dollars to analyze why they couldn't retain Nurses and why they were forced to recruit from the Phillipines and Nursing Agencies the consulting firm told them : you are under paying ????? They actually paid a consulting firm 1 Million to get the same answer EVERY nurse who quit was telling them So, they doubled everyone salary based on seniority. Guess what happened ? No more Nursing shortage |
💯 agree! I used to sub and there is no way I’d do it for that amount! My 13-yr-old is paid $20/hour to babysit. |
I honestly don't know how DCPS can think $17/hour is ok when nannies and babysitters make more. (That said, teen babysitters are overpaid, and this is only happening in rich neighborhoods where people don't care how much they pay.) |

Do we know if the increase in pay was the result of the strike?
And if so....maybe they should strike again. Because $17/hour is horse-dooky. |
