| 195 is at a standstill. This is crazy especially when most of the govt. will tele-work. Come on! |
| Given the request from local jurisdictions to STAY THE EFF OFF THE ROADS, will unscheduled leave be weather & safety (admin) for those who comply, or will they be forced to use annual leave? |
| Bad decision. |
| Washington Post reporting at least three traffic fatalities from the storm. |
Annual. |
What sense does that make? Isn't the whole point of WSL to account for not being able to report to work for weather- and safety-related conditions? If complying with local government requests to stay off the roads until plows have had a chance to clear them isn't acceptable, what is? |
When OPM makes the call. |
| I guess this is because they expect the majority will telework ( but yes, I know some people can’t). |
| A 3 hour delay is very generous given most of y’all already work from home. Commuting from the bedroom to your home office must be real tough |
| They have changed their minds before. If it looks like a cluster they may switch to closed. But this time, it’s not that bad in Ashburn or whatever so those people may be out and about. |
It's a terrible decision, but that's OPM. Good luck everyone! Hope everyone and their cars make it safely. |
The delay doesn't apply to teleworkers. |
Seriously, there have been dozens of posts on this and yet some people still can’t seem to get it through their thick skulls. The OPM delays/closures don’t apply to most teleworking feds. However there are 10s of thousands of us whose jobs require reporting to the office in person on a daily basis (plus many non feds whose place of work follow OPM guidelines). If that doesn’t apply to you then move along. |
I wish Jeff would just ban/delete posts that deliberately spread misinformation. You know damn well that an OPM closure only applies to those scheduled to report in person. Life-or-death emergency employees already have mechanisms in place to ensure staffing through inclement weather (such as sleeping quarters on site or dedicated transportation to ferry people from home to worksite). So really the OPM closure just applies to those who have work that can only be done in person but isn't necessarily urgent or essential. Teleworkers have had the luxury of keeping themselves safe at home for almost two years now. Give the daily commuters a darn break when driving in could literally get people killed (and let's not even talk about the certainty of exposure to omicron while in the office). |
Standing ovation. Thank you. |
