Will APS teachers allow sick or quarantined kids to dial in?

My kid is a fully Vaxxed full IB senior at W-L. He had a pretty mild case of Covid in October (pre-Omicron). He spent two weeks in his room, and didn’t watch a thing online. He kept up with assignments by Blackboard, and didn’t feel like he needed live instruction, though theoretically that was available after 3 days

Thanks for sharing this! DD must be a classmate. We’re stressing here trying to figure out how to handle quarantine. This is comforting to know they’ve done this before.

DP
Isn't it 10 days if you test positive or if you are an unvaccinated close contact?

Not anymore… 5 days now, unless you’re still sick after that. I think.

It has not yet changed in schools. 10 days at this time.

No, you’re incorrect. Duran sent an email just this week about the change. “ New CDC Guidelines for Quarantine Following Exposure: On Dec. 27, the CDC provided an update reducing the recommended quarantine period from 10 days to five days for fully vaccinated individuals and revised the definition for full vaccination. APS will adhere to the new guidelines, and we have posted a graphic outlining the revised procedures online. To be considered fully vaccinated under the new guidelines, individuals must have received a booster in addition to the two initial doses of vaccine, if it has been more than six months since they received their second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or if it has been more than two months since receiving the J&J https://www.apsva.us/school-year-2021-22/health-safety-information/contact-tracing-quarantine-isolation/

Actually they are right, the new guidelines take affect 1/3.

That still means almost all of middle school and half of high school are only considered “partially vaccinated”,and will have to be out five days every time.

Yes. This is a little confusing but basically the new 5 day/no booster rules do not apply unless you were diagnosed after 1/3. If you were diagnosed before then the old rules still apply.
