S/O person who does laundry once a month…

I definitely don’t rewear workout clothes. DH works out 5x per week and does his own laundry weekly on Sundays. He has tons.

Towels/sheets - I used to be adamant that these get washed weekly. I’ve loosened up and delegated much of this. DH is in charge of washing towels and changing them out and he does that about weekly. Sheets are done by our cleaning lady every 2 weeks when she comes. We have one kid and no pets tho!

The work-out clothes sit there for a week? That's pretty gross.

I think I’ve come around to this view especially since having a kid and getting a small dog. I even launder the bath mat and shower liner way more than I used to. Change pillowcases a couple times per week, sheets every 1-2 weeks, throw pillows into hot dryer every so often, run air purifiers. I don’t think I smell, but definitely a house can musty with old laundry and unlaundered towels/bedding/bathroom gear!

I’m lol-ing at the poster who’s so torn up over other people’s laundry habits. You clearly feel things very erm, deeply. I’d love to hear your commentary at a scary movie.

Easier and less time consuming overall to stick with one load per week for my clothes. I toss everything in with warm water and hand dry most of it. Each person in my family has a different assigned day and on Fridays the sheets and towels get washed. Easy peasy.

I assume you mean air dry.

I'm an adult woman who lives alone, and does 3 load a week - one of sheets, and 2 for various clothes and towels.

Also, it's MUCH easier to do a load as soon as you have one to do, rather than spend all day (or multiple days) doing a giant backlog of laundry.

I don’t think anyone said they rewear their workout clothes. And I can see why you live alone.

Have you seen My 600lb Life? Almost everyone on there has a partner. Doesn't mean everything's healthy and dandy.

And yes, doing laundry once a month must make your house smell. The stink and dankness multiplies over time. Of course you don't notice it, but I'm certain others do.

Do you live in a studio apartment? I have a 3600sq ft house and can assure you that my guests are not hanging out in my laundry room. There is a world outside of your poor, tiny, little bubble. And excessive laundry washing is terrible for the environment. Shame on you!

Not sure if trolling or majorly stupid.

NP here. I also have few clothes so I need to do laundry often. I'm also a freak in that I don't mind doing laundry at all.

What does this mean? A 3600 sq foot house for one person is huge.

Someone with a 3600 sq foot house with enough new clothes to last an entire month, saying someone who lives in a studio doing laundry regularly is shameful and a strain on the environment?

What the what kind of filthy ass stupid pp says something like that?

Well all that dissolved into arguing about off topic nonsense pretty fast. Anyway I’ve had an ongoing argument with my mom for years about how often you should do laundry, she does laundry constantly no load too small like OCD compulsion to have an empty laundry basket, I on the other hand have been doing my own laundry since I was 12 I’m now 40 and I do laundry once a every 3 to 4 weeks depending on how hard I work and how dirty I get each day. I do have plenty of clothes both work clothes and nice dress going out clothes and like a child I don’t wear my nice clothes unless I have something to go do extending the life of my good clothes. All you have to do to do laundry once a month is buy enough underwear, socks and if you’re really sweaty undershirts to have a new each day so your covered but if you’re a practical person you’ll realize you can wear certain things a couple times before you wash them if they’re not dirty like shorts and jeans or if you only have something on for a few hours and you don’t sweat or stain it you’re good. Because of my construction job my laundry usually gets done when I run out of either clean work shirts, underwear, or clean towels and then it an all day thing like 6-8 loads at once fold your clothes as each load comes out of the dryer so they don’t wrinkle and it’s all done when the last load comes out of the dryer instead a huge pile that takes forever to fold

We have one of those rolling hamper things with 3 compartments - his, mine and dry cleaning.

I think the secret is that I rewear things. For example, jeans get worn several times before washing unless they are stained. Bras (I have like 15) are worn, set out to air out, and then washed monthly. T shirts and tops are worn once before washing. Sweaters are worn several times - I wear a t shirt underneath to hold sweat and odor. Socks and panties obviously worn once too. Work dresses work 2-3 times before being dry cleaned.

HTH!

“Air out?” Ewwwww. You people are nasty.
