| I do laundry once per month. I rewear a lot of items before washing and also have a lot of dry cleaning. I do laundry when I run out of clean underwear which is about once per month. I have a big closet so the items I rewear don’t get mixed with the rest of my clothes. I keep them separate and rotate them. Same for my dry clean only clothes. I think washing more frequently would fade my clothes. |
| I do it once a week. I’ve tried doing as soon as I have a load but it makes me feel like I’m always doing laundry. I’d much rather wait for it to pile up then do a big folding session while watching tv. |
| Gross. I hate it when people have stinky laundry piles. You can totally smell them. Old and musty. You’re not taking it out back and beating it with a stick. Just do a load every day. |
| I have a DH and 3 kids that all play sports. DH and I work out at least 5 days week. No way can we go more than a week without doing laundry |

PP with the 15 bras who does laundry monthly. This is all so fascinating!
Yes 15 bras is a lot. I’m extra AF, just gotta admit it. I do laundry the last Friday of the month and when it’s all done I fold in maybe 20m and put it away. Waiting that long is driven by how much I hate laundry, the fact that tons of my stuff has to to air dry and that takes a day, and the fact that doing laundry monthly forces me to wear all my clothes, not just my favorites. I get more use out of my stuff this way. |

I'm sorry, but that's nasty. Letting your smelly, dirty clothes marinate in their filth for so long is gross. Wear jeans 2-3x? Sure. Re-wear workout clothing? Foul.
I'm an adult woman who lives alone, and does 3 load a week - one of sheets, and 2 for various clothes and towels. Also, it's MUCH easier to do a load as soon as you have one to do, rather than spend all day (or multiple days) doing a giant backlog of laundry. |
|
Woah, that's WILD to me! I do at least a load every day for our family of 3 + 2 dogs + 2 cats!
We re-use towels 2-3 times, but I change out our bathroom and kitchen towels a lot. I wash throw blankets at least once a week because I'm very conscious of pet smell and we use them all over the place. I wash sheets once a week, sometimes once every 2 weeks. I have washable kitchen and throw rugs I wash maybe once a month. Clothes only get worn once over here. My husband works outside and can get NASTY at work (works with sewer and water systems), so his work stuff gets washed separately. Sports laundry, hats and sweatshirts and jackets, idk it all adds up! Doing laundry once a month sounds so lovely though

Monthly/15 bra PP.
I definitely don’t rewear workout clothes. DH works out 5x per week and does his own laundry weekly on Sundays. He has tons. Towels/sheets - I used to be adamant that these get washed weekly. I’ve loosened up and delegated much of this. DH is in charge of washing towels and changing them out and he does that about weekly. Sheets are done by our cleaning lady every 2 weeks when she comes. We have one kid and no pets tho! |
I guess not everyone gets as smelly and sweaty as you. I certainly do not have that issue. I wash my clothes monthly. DH does his own laundry. The kids laundry is done weekly as are the sheets and towels. The housekeeper washes the bed and bath linens. |
Wait!! I thought this was about HOUSEHOLD laundry that's only done once a month! Your dh is doing his own weekly laundry. As an adult, sure I could get by with once a month too (especially if I didn't have kids and wasn't married), but my family of 5 cannot. I mean my infant spits up and goes through at least 6 bibs a day, plus clothes, blankets, burp cloths, sheets... it goes on and on. |
Unless you're in a vegetated state, never going outside, I assure you that you definitely have that issue and people can tell. If you go outside, your clothes pick up stink and dirt. And your clothes accumulate oils whether or not you exercise and sweat (which is a good thing, not sure why you associate sweating as a negative). Washing your clothes once a month is like taking a shower once a week. It's nasty. You've just become accustomed to your own stink. |
| I used to do laundry monthly when I didn't have a unit at home. I would actually just do drop off service which was amazing. Now I do laundry on Sundays. |
Are you one of these people who thinks “outside” smells bad? Washing your clothes monthly might be a bit too long for me, but doing laundry daily is just as ridiculous. |
There are pollutants and grime in the air that stick to you. Unless you're only frolicking in a rose garden, you need to wash your clothes and bathe regularly. Daily laundry is not necessary, but bi-weekly or once a week at minimum is normal. Daily showering? Yes, necessary. But if you want people to think you're gross (whether or not they tell you to your face), then that's your issue to deal with. |
So you are one of these people who thinks the “outdoors” smells bad. Got it. I do laundry when I need to, not on a schedule, but thanks for your concern. |
