| In the “how many times do you wear pajamas thread,” there was a person who said they did laundry once a month. I don’t want to go once a month, but I would like to do it every other week. And even then, the closet is a total mess by the end of the two weeks. How do you organize your dirty laundry? (This person may have less laundry than I do as I wear pajamas 2x and they do 7x, that might translate to other things). Regardless, what do you all use to store your dirty laundry? My solution thus far is that I have to do laundry every week even though I have enough clothes to go another week. |

I’m the PP who does laundry monthly.
We have one of those rolling hamper things with 3 compartments - his, mine and dry cleaning. I think the secret is that I rewear things. For example, jeans get worn several times before washing unless they are stained. Bras (I have like 15) are worn, set out to air out, and then washed monthly. T shirts and tops are worn once before washing. Sweaters are worn several times - I wear a t shirt underneath to hold sweat and odor. Socks and panties obviously worn once too. Work dresses work 2-3 times before being dry cleaned. HTH! |
| I barely do my laundry monthly. I wear the same nightgown for a week. I have a laundry bag I got two decades ago . |
| My dirty laundry is in a pile/small mountain in my closet. I have higher priority problems to deal with. |
| Sometimes I let my laundry pile up for 3 weeks (I use a big woven, lidded plastic laundry basket that holds a lot) and honestly, I think it’s so much more work to do all that laundry at once. Easier and less time consuming overall to stick with one load per week for my clothes. I toss everything in with warm water and hand dry most of it. Each person in my family has a different assigned day and on Fridays the sheets and towels get washed. Easy peasy. |
I'm jealous! I have about 5. I love one of them and like another one. 15 seems like such luxury! |
| Why would you want to do laundry monthly?! I do it as soon as I have a load. One load is so manageable for me. I can easily hang and fold it all in 10 min. Multiple loads become a sorting disaster and harder to put away. I remember when I was a kid my mom would sit me in front of like 8 loads of laundry and make me fold it all. It was hell. |
Doing laundry costs money. I don’t wear new clothes each day. One load a month is fine for me. |
i agree! i hate my life if that laundry gets piled up. when the kids were little i could have a literal mountain of laundry! now i only have enough for a few loads a week which i can do all in one day. |
Pp here. Dh and I do rewear a lot of clothes. Pjs 3x, jeans multiple times, shirts even. My kids can wear pjs 3x, but that’s about it. They trash their clothes daily at daycare. Dirty knees, spills on the shirt, etc. Maybe if I was single I could do it once a month. Currently I probably do 2 loads a week. |
| You guys must have a lot of clothes! I run out of clothes to wear after about a week. |
| I agree that it’s easier to do it weekly. I have a two compartment laundry basket and sort lights and darks when I put them in the basket. Do a load of each once a week, plus a load of towels and a load of sheets. I hang up and rewear sweaters, but everything else gets washed after one wear (unless it was very brief). |
| I do laundry twice a week even though I rewear a lot of the clothes (jeans, pj, sweater, etc). Towels used 3 days. But I workout every day and sweat buckets. I can’t let that go too long. I have a hamper that when full is one load so I do it when full. |

Wow. Granted, we have 3 kids, but we do laundry every day. We wash towels and PJ's after each use.
Laundry is an easy chore, and takes only a few minutes to throw things in the washer, advance them to the dryer, and then fold them. |
| I have a lot of clothes. I was in fashion. I just bought a house with an upstairs laundry room. I love it. I now do laundry everyday. |
