S/O person who does laundry once a month…

Laundry is an easy chore, and takes only a few minutes to throw things in the washer, advance them to the dryer, and then fold them.

+1. Well, on the 3 kids and load done daily part. I hate folding and do let clean laundry build up.

I guess not everyone gets as smelly and sweaty as you. I certainly do not have that issue. I wash my clothes monthly. DH does his own laundry. The kids laundry is done weekly as are the sheets and towels. The housekeeper washes the bed and bath linens.

Unless you're in a vegetated state, never going outside, I assure you that you definitely have that issue and people can tell. If you go outside, your clothes pick up stink and dirt. And your clothes accumulate oils whether or not you exercise and sweat (which is a good thing, not sure why you associate sweating as a negative).

Washing your clothes once a month is like taking a shower once a week. It's nasty. You've just become accustomed to your own stink.

I don’t think you understand. I don’t wear an outfit more than twice. I just have enough that I don’t need to do laundry more than once a month.

Right, but you're letting dirty clothes sit and marinate in their stink for a month? That smell travels in your house, and isn't completely something you can get rid of. Especially underwear. It's gross pp, do your laundry once a week at minimum.

This. You sound like the people who claim they don’t have BO. Your house smells like dirty laundry. I promise you.

Anonymous wrote:Why would you want to do laundry monthly?! I do it as soon as I have a load. One load is so manageable for me. I can easily hang and fold it all in 10 min. Multiple loads become a sorting disaster and harder to put away. I remember when I was a kid my mom would sit me in front of like 8 loads of laundry and make me fold it all. It was hell.

i agree! i hate my life if that laundry gets piled up. when the kids were little i could have a literal mountain of laundry! now i only have enough for a few loads a week which i can do all in one day.

We usually do a load daily, but the folding doesn't happen til the weekend. We call it Mt. Laundry!

We have one of those rolling hamper things with 3 compartments - his, mine and dry cleaning.

I think the secret is that I rewear things. For example, jeans get worn several times before washing unless they are stained. Bras (I have like 15) are worn, set out to air out, and then washed monthly. T shirts and tops are worn once before washing. Sweaters are worn several times - I wear a t shirt underneath to hold sweat and odor. Socks and panties obviously worn once too. Work dresses work 2-3 times before being dry cleaned.

HTH!

This is similar to what I do. Can't actually tell you the last time my jeans were washed, that said I wear them maybe 3 times a month and not all day. Bras, I rotate them. I have about 5. When I take one off I hang it up to "air it out", they probably get washed once a month. It's important to note that I don't work out in my bras, and I do not sweat very much. I can be in a workout class where everyone around me is dripping in sweat and I'm barely glistening. And for my workouts I wear workout bras, which are washed after each wearing. Socks and underwear - regular washing schedule.

I do 1-2 loads a day

I sleep naked and I do laundry 2x/week or so. Maybe 3.

Great idea, OP. I do laundry once a week because finally I have it in my apartment. My loads are really small though.
Most things in my laundry are socks, underwear and t-shirts. I don't have a fancy job.
I have about 3 pairs of underwear, 10 bras, 20 pairs of socks and 40 t-shirts. Can easily do laundry only once a month. I don't sweat even when I work out.

Wow. I do laundry every single day. Sometimes twice. Single dad of two teens and despite my efforts my kids go through towels a lot and instead of buying a lot of school uniforms for their Catholic school I only got them two each. I’d rather spend the money on laundry than hundreds on uniform items though I’m open to calculations that it’s smarter to buy more items that really can’t be repurposed.

We wear every piece of clothing once and then wash it. Same goes for towels and kitchen towels.

We wash bedsheets once in two weeks. All bathmats - monthly. Handtowel in the powder room - usually once in two weeks or anytime a visitor uses the powder room.

I run around 4-5 big and small loads of clothes every day. I sort clothes and use different products to clean them because I need my clothes looking like new even with all that washing.

I love folding laundry and then making sure that they are put away in dressers and closets for each family member (2 teens and two adults).

We have lots of clothes and always keep several new outfits in our closets.

I do laundry daily. I can’t imagine letting it pile up. First, way too much work. Second, gross. Who wants dirty laundry just sitting around for weeks. Ick.

I wouldn't have to do much laundry if I lived alone. I rewear things a lot too. But my kid wears like 2 different outfits daily and gets them both dirty. My DH about the same, and he sweats. So I am always doing loads of their stuff. My stuff though. I could probably do 1x every 2 weeks.
