OMG, I hope so! Tens of thousands less unvaccinated crazies among us? Sign me up! |
Well, I’ll cynically have to admit that that IS an attractive upside. But still not worth all the less serious breakthrough cases among the vaxxed that will occur if that were to happen. |
| The hysteria seems silly. Fairfax County hasn't had a mandate since May, and only requires masks in the instances that DC is changing their mandate to. 75%+ of people still wear masks in stores. |
As a parent of a child who's too young to be vaccinated, I wish people like you would consider that there is still a sizeable proportion of the population who is unvaccinated not by choice. Everyone being required to wear a mask in public -- or even just in places like grocery stores and medical facilities -- for a few more months is not a big burden but it would make the lives of people like me SO much less stressful. |
| Your stress is self-imposed. Children are not at significant risk from COVID, the risk of COVID to them is less than the risk of >40yo vaccinated adults. Children in NOVA are not dropping like flies and there is no mask mandate there and hasn't been for a long time. I wish you would realize that rather than expecting other people to accommodate your irrational anxiety. Most parents around the country and many in DC are going about their lives rationally, but there's a very vocal contingent of people with serious anxiety problems here. |

The children most at risk are obese children, the children of unvaccinated parents, and immunocompromised children.
If you nicely ask someone to put on a mask because your kid has cancer and you absolutely could not leave them at home, you will probably get a more positive response than you think. I think some parents are being completely ridiculous assholes, I will not generally mask, and I would still immediately accommodate this request. If your kid is not with you, your problem is solved by wearing your own N95, which is far more effective than half assed cloth masking by strangers. That is your responsibility, a you problem, and a you solution. The other two big risk factors are within your control as a parent. If your kid is not obese, not immunocompromised, and you are vaccinated, and you are still asking the government to force strangers to accommodate you, the answer is therapy. |
| PP is spot on. |
+a million (and I have a toddler) |
This could not be said better. |
Ok, let’s compromise. We can give up masking, but you keep your unvaccinated booger machine at home until they’re old enough to get vaxxed. Deal? |
Sure fine whatever |
Correct. And notice how this post is just glossed over? It’s like the crazies don’t want to even see possible good news! |
| Unvaccinated people should be required to wear a mask. |
Lol. Bowser would never. |
It’s because it’s about control, not covid. |
