When we look back in January at the tens of thousands of deaths that will surely come of this, we will refer to next Monday as “bloody Monday” - and blood is on Bowser’s hands.

I hope this is sarcasm, because when you are this histrionic and crazy, and there are definitely a vocal contingent of people who are this way (especially a very small but vocal contingent of parents), you lose the people who actually did take reasonable precautions, got vaccinated ASAP, and probably have a plan to boost or already have. We are viscerally turning hard against you.

The only people ineligible for a vaccine, 0-4 year olds: 0 DC deaths the entire pandemic. The only people recently eligible for a vaccine, 5-11 year olds: 0 DC deaths the entire pandemic.

There have been an extremely low number of deaths since vaccines became widely available. All or almost all among the unvaccinated. Those people have made their choice at this point. Even before vaccines, the death toll here was ~1100. Are people dropping like flies over in Arlington or Alexandria where there is no mask mandate? No, they are not.

Get over it.

I agree with PP. I followed all the rules, stayed home as much as possible, got vaccinated and a booster as soon as possible.

But when I saw how unreasonable Bowser and Nesbitt were being in fleeing from the science with regard to gyms (who were willing to implement a vaccine mandate) I took off my mask for good and dared anyone to confront me. No one ever did.

Not only have there been zero deaths in DC among children ages 0-4, but hospitalizations among children under 18 in DC are extremely low. There is generally about 1 pediatric hospitalization in DC per week. It spiked briefly in September…to six.

I do not like that I am on the side of the MAGA crowd to push for the end of restrictions. I do not like my bedfellows. But when nutso people are crying for forced masks to mitigate risks far lower than they impose on their own damn kids every day, MAGA it is because allowing this much government emergency control at this point has got to stop. What will you ask the government to ban or control next to mitigate extremely small risks to your kids? Refocus your energy on guns and drunk driving or something. I’ll join you.

I am starting to think that the mask hysteria is due to neurotic persons whose mental instability has been exacerbated by this pandemic. I agree that they would benefit from therapy.

+1. The 7 day average for deaths of all ages in DC: 0. If we don’t start moving on now, then when?

They are ever-present and resoundingly loud when it comes to DC schools. Tune into some of the Council meetings where they are discussing anything about mitigation in schools, and you'll see them fairly breathlessly demanding mitigation that goes well beyond CDC recommendations (and they receive a very receptive ear from the Council).

Is this serious or a joke? I pray the latter. If not, with all seriousness, you need mental help. This is not healthy or reasonable thinking.

You just never got around anyone who would’ve jumped in your sh!t about it. Because I guarantee if you would’ve sauntered by me unmasked, I would’ve been all up on you about it. You WOULD have out a mask on by the time I got loud.

This seems so over the top it must not be meant seriously. But just in case: Fewer than 1,200 people have died in D.C. from covid the entire pandemic. That's too many, obviously, and I don't mean to downplay any deaths, but there's no way lifting the mask mandate now will result in tens of thousands of new deaths in the District.

Different poster. No I’d have just walked away from you. What are you going to do? Start assaulting people? You’re unhinged.

I'd be laughing too hard to do anything if you tried something like that. It's not like you're going to punch somebody so being LOUD (lmao) is just hot air.
