Very few classes are held at the mountaintop campus, but for those that are, there are busses that go back and forth nonstop and can be tracked with an app.

We visited Lehigh this past weekend. The campus is absolutely gorgeous and the fall leaves just added to the beauty. I found the surrounding town to be just like any quaint small town with rows of shops, restaurants, etc. There were lots of students and local families out and about in the town.

Just how Greek/party/athletic is Lehigh? DS is none of those things but likes the school otherwise. Could he find a niche (perhaps with other geeky engineering kids) or is Lehigh just the wrong place for that kind of kid?

Bump. Any updates from this year’s round?

Does she want to join a sorority? Will she drive an Audi? Does she want to major in engineering or business? If yes it’ll be a fine fit. It’s a respectable school and the town has improved I’d be fine sending my daughter there.

UVA instate is already close to $50k

Lehigh alum here, graduated about 10 years ago. Wonderful experience. Greek life was pretty dominant at that time still- however, I would say that also meant that there were a variety of fraternities and sororities.
I had a wide social circle and hung out at several fraternities that had almost all 'nerdy' engineers or the like so even if your DD or DS has the idea that Greek life isn't their thing, they probably have a different idea in mind than the reality.
The only thing I would say is that if you are sober and/or adamantly against drinking Lehigh would most likely not be a good fit.

The ludicrous comment a few years back about Bethlehem's alleged "sketchiness" is just evidence of DCUM's embarrassing provincialism.

Lehigh is located in Bethlehem which is a prosperous small city that's the wealthiest part of the Allentown/Bethlehem/Easton area -- the third largest metro area in all of PA, with all the jobs, shopping and cultural activities that implies. Bethlehem has an average household income of $96K, and its growing population reached a record in the 2020 census (how many other former steel communities can say that?). It has a well-maintained commercial area just outside Lehigh's campus that caters to students, and then a charming historic downtown a half dozen blocks away, and is just a 90 minute drive to Center City Philly and a 100 minute drive to Manhattan (yes, commuting distance for some). Compared to where other comparable schools are located, Lehigh's location is pretty ideal.

? it is? thats news to me. I have a kid there and pay just about $30K per year. Are you talking about engineering, which does cost more?

Anonymous wrote:NP. On paper and in photos it looked perfect for my DD. We visited this summer and she was a little turned off by what she called all the “white business bros.” I told her she was being too judgmental but out of the many school tours we took this was the only one where there was a competitive, kind of “I’m too cool to ask questions on the tour,” sort of chop on my shoulder vibe. Since then, she’s read about the intensity of Greek life and is probably not going to apply.

So your DD was upset that white men were attending the school?

There are different flavors of white people.

The whites as Wesleyan or grinnell are not the same as Lehigh/bucjnell

Tell us you're a judgmental, elitist liberal without telling us you're a judgmental elitist liberal.

Says the Anonymous person judging another Anonymous person on dcum. I belive ppp was referring to bro culture.

Stereotype much? There are very few Audis there, actually. I’ve seen more at Uconn and Elon. My kids majored in Economics and Statistics and both came out of school making 85k+. Daughter was in a sorority, but Greek life is dying. Two more fraternities were dissolved just this past month. It’s a great school and great launchpad into corporate America.

Why were the frats dissolved?

DS and I loved the town, great shops, very quaint. He is, however, one of those anti-drinking culture kids.

One for suspected hazing and the other for inconsistencies in their annual report when they were already on probation

Most of the classes held at mountaintop are art, design, and architecture classes. But yes, it is easy to access with a quick campus bus ride.
