Why can't Laquandra Nesbitt give metrics for mask mandate end? That's her job.

Families with young kids have borne a massive burden of daycare closures and kid quarantines that will continue to be an issue until we can get all kids vaccinated!

Also close indoor dining! And anywhere else spread occurs! Until all can be vaccinated!

Agree 100%.

Indoor dining - indoor ANYTHING - right now is sheer insanity.

Close all businesses! Close schools! No one should work at grocery stores!

I haven’t been to a grocery store (and only to a handful of other stores) since February of 2020. There is absolutely no need to when groceries can be brought directly to your home.

See, this is what RESPONSIBLE people do. They minimize their risk and don’t take a chance on going to someplace where they might be exposed. This is what intelligent people do. But that’s not you. You’re just another dummy obsessed with freedumb.

One day you’ll get covid and die, and that will relieve the rest of us of the burden of dealing with you. Can’t happen soon enough.

No. This is what completely self-centered people do who don’t even see their shoppers/delivery people as human. If you truly believe being out in public is a health risk, what gives you the right to protect yourself and send others in your place to absorb that risk? ?

Easier to make anxious white liberals in DC think they're "doing something" by making everyone mask all the time.

Problem is, some communities (AAs and Trumpsters particularly in the South) will refuse vaccination no matter what. I think the responsible, vaccinated public shouldn't have to wear masks in perpetuity to protect them and their bad choices. We are past that point. This is now endemic. We have to learn to live with it without destroying businesses and forcing small children to wear masks all day. We have vaccines; we will soon have even better therapeutics for those who do fall ill. It's time to stop the insanity.

And it is bad for democracy to use irrational public fear to hand over expanded powers to officials with no foreseeable end date. The temporary emergency is over. We need to hold our elected officials accountable and strip them of those emergency powers.

As we saw from the brief period in the summer when mask mandates were lifted, there is no way to prove or verify that only unvaccinated people mask and vaccinated people don’t have to mask. Anyone irresponsible enough not to be vaccinated will have no issue going around maskless.

Yes, but they are only taking the risk on themselves in that case. They can get vaccinated, but won't. I shouldn't have to mask for 9 hours a day because they are irresponsible. If they get sick, that's on them. Anyone can mask all the time if they like to, but it should not be forced on vaccinated people who understand how to weigh risks like rational adults. We've done the responsible thing. Stop punishing the responsible members of society.

I am starting to leave my mask down longer and longer when I drink water, eat, just need a mask break, etc. I think this is ridiculous.

I know one gym in DC where the manager is super strict about enforcing it. They've screamed at patrons about it before. Actually, the worst ones ARE the other patrons; they snitch to staff if someone pulls their mask down to catch their breath and sip some water. It's insane.

I’m just glad that the residents of my building have overwhelmingly decided to ignore the mandate everywhere but the lobby, including the gym.

DC officials are not exactly known for their intelligence or work ethic.

The mask mandate is a joke and a sad little power play that Bowser thinks makes her look good to her constituents.

No. As stated above I don’t dare. It’s in NWDC. Do your research!

Sounds like DOH should be made aware of it if they’re flagrantly violating DC law.

That gym needs to be permanently shut down.

In a lot of places they aren’t. I was in Target in DC today massless. No one said a word.

It’s not a law, PP. It’s a mayors order. NBD

Seeing this more and more, particularly among young professionals of all races.

People are now walking billboards for how ineffectual Bowser is now that it has become commonplace to not wear a mask indoors in DC and no one cares. Bowser should drop the mandate just to save herself the embarrassment.

The funniest part of the the mayor’s joke of a mandate is that it has a specific carve out where it is specifically not enforced for federal or DC government officials. Shows you how useless they really think it is and that it is all for show.
