Why can't Laquandra Nesbitt give metrics for mask mandate end? That's her job.

Masking eternally makes no sense.

If you like to go to gyms, particularly ones that are requiring vaccinations, often you wouldn't like to do that with masks. I know I don't, and that's why I haven't rejoined my small gym in DC.

Masking does make sense. Just because you are too much of snowflake to wear a nearly weightless piece of fabric doesn’t mean it’s not a good idea.

And if you can’t bear the weight of a mask, what was the point in going to a gym anyway? Clearly it’s not working for you.

Zero people are wearing masks in the Army gyms in DC, and I’m routinely removing 300-600 pounds that people leave on bars there, so go off.

Masking is not worth it for healthy vaccinated people in proximity to other healthy vaccinated people.

Look, I'm following the rules and wearing a mask, as pointless at times as it seems (e.g., restaurants where I magically can't get covid if I'm eating or drinking) (that's a joke if you don't understand).

Clearly you have never exercised with any aerobic intensity. The mask itself becomes wet and you feel like you are suffocating. Since masks are required in gyms in DC, I'm just not going to them. This perhaps hurts the ability of small business-owners to survive, but I realize that jocko's are gross to you and who cares.

It's amazing to me that so many people think the only way to get exercise is to pay a ludicrous monthly fee for a gym to exercise around strangers, half of whom are sketchy AF.

Yeah, you don't have to do it. It's ok. But there are people who do enjoy exercising with others. Generally we should support a pursuit of movement and health, versus being a judgmental douche.

Look, if people can choose to go to restaurants and bars unmasked, I see no reason why they can't go to gyms unmasked. Particularly if gyms have a vaccinated-only policy. At some point it might even be safer to go to the gym than the bar/restaurant (just wrt covid).

Allowing indoor dining but not unmasked-but-vaxxed gym attendance seems like a policy that doesn't make any sense from a covid-reduction perspective.

Nesbitt's job is to keep us alive, not to reassure OP that everything is back to normal.

Spoken like a person who never works out. So you don’t value it. Like Nesbit.

NP but do you go to work in person every day and have to wear a mask? My guess is many people on this board WFH or go in to the office once or twice a week. As someone who works in person and wears a mask 9 hours straight each day, I would love a loosening of mask mandates so I can enjoy activities mask less like going to the gym. Wearing a mask all day is annoying for some of us. It is harder for me to breath in a mask.

How are the mask mandates enforced, if at all? Seriously I would just violate this rule, as it makes no sense in relation to the fact that indoor dining is open.

Please wait to remove mask mandates! My 5yo just became eligible for the vaccine and we're waiting for their first shot appt, and my 2yo is stuck waiting until who knows when. Families with young kids have borne a massive burden of daycare closures and kid quarantines that will continue to be an issue until we can get all kids vaccinated!

Also close indoor dining! And anywhere else spread occurs! Until all can be vaccinated!

You need to toughen up, buttercup. A mask isn’t affecting you in any way whatsoever.

Agree 100%.

Indoor dining - indoor ANYTHING - right now is sheer insanity.

Close all businesses! Close schools! No one should work at grocery stores!
