Ew. Nobody wants your pity. |
I don't translate those comments as extending pity but expressing revulsion. |
Are you white? Your post reads like you’re a keyboard SJW with a serious case of white savior complex. Sometimes people who do not share the exact same life experiences can still bond, human to human, over the things they do have in common. |

Interesting thought OP. We are Black parents raising two amazing children. One excels in the top 1% of a Magnet MCPS HS and will have a very bright future God willing, and the other is just starting kinder in what we think of as a melting pot ES that is top notch. I was not raised to have a mentality that hinders growth, success or excellence, so my entire family has high standards. I do understand there is racism but it is kind of like voodoo. Most of the time, if you do not believe in it then it will not affect you. Also, how you react to the world's ills is being recorded by your children. So, you must think about what you want them to take from how you behave, what you say, and your mindset. They are watching. My mindset is that our physical characteristics are African American but excellence and being successful is not a race so therefore it should have no bearing. Also, I do not participate in politics, watch News or trash TV, or subscribe to people with issues. Besides DCUM, Lol, my secret indulgence.
I am sorry you feel this way but you must change your thinking for the sake of your kids and be happy to have children who are allowed by law to be able to reach whatever destination you set before them and encourage them to reach. |
You don't know what you don't know. Erasing a sordid and scary past allows for minds to forget. This sets the stage for an even greater evil in the future. The orchestrators of this world know their history and their role in it. Think about that. Knowledge is power. |
It is true that the rubes fell for the whole CRT/Fox News nonsense, but what you saw was a backlash to an ineffective president and woke BS in general. You can only hear so much about guys wanting to compete against girls in sports or race based discrimination by dems before you say F it. |
If you’re seriously wondering what people thought in the 50s /60s there are plenty of resources out there and plenty of people that you can ask. I would say more, but I’m not clear from your diatribe that you’re here to learn. Do you know, for example, the percentage of Black kids who attend underfunded, racially segregated schools? Have you thought about how and why this reality came to be? Here’s some fun reading for you. https://www.epi.org/publication/schools-are-still-segregated-and-black-children-are-paying-a-price/ One quick question though: Who do I call to get access to those truckloads of money? I don’t want a lot. Just enough to feel reasonably secure both now and as I head towards retirement. I have an Ivy League degree, a PhD, and I can code switch with alacrity. You may not be trying to be insensitive or obtuse, but if the Black people you are close to are “admittedly, rich and mostly from top schools, etc (and) doing just great”, you surely must realize that 1) those people are hardly representative of Black Americans as a demographic group, and 2) while they might truly be doing “just great”, you may or may not be privy to the stressors that they’re facing in the process. I truly hope you’re right about police abuse of POC getting “stamped out for good” — but little that I’ve seen or read suggests that. Perhaps you can provide us with some data when you get tired from accusing people whose challenges you do not share of “hysteria “. tldr: Things might be better in many respects for a few, and that’s great. Representation is also great. But we really are not living in the same world much of the time. If you would sincerely like to explore the issues that you’ve raised, consider starting another thread. OP: Sometimes it IS hard, and it helps to have people in your Village who can see that too. I hope you have a strong support system. I hope that things get better — for you and your family, and for us all. Sending positive thoughts your way. |
I'm a liberal Democrat (as are many of the people who voted for Youngkin) and as such don't watch conservative media. I know that CRT is in the schools. Any school assigning and discussing Kendi is promoting CRT. He's a disgusting racist and has no place in schools. |
Reeeeeeeeeeeee! |
No. The goal is to not let woke lunatics dumb down the curriculum and introduce the works of racists like Kendi and DiAngelo into our schools. |
It's none of that. It's the next part we disagree with. |
You think a Korean immigrant with likely very little English and a heavy accent wouldn’t experience racism in this country??? |
+1 Beautifully written. |
| OP - I feel bad for your kids. Not because they are black, but because you are teaching them this mindset. They can be whatever they want to be and you are teaching them that the world is against them. |
These things, including climate change, have ALWAYS existed in the world. The only difference is that now people are more neurotic because they think they can prevent every bad thing, and when they can't it is injustice. Agree that life is full of both good and bad. It is up to each individual to learn to focus on the good. |
