WWYD: Found out there was drinking and weed at Halloween Party (DD 15)

OP, I hate to break it to you but these “parties” start with experimenting much, much sooner than 10th grade. Eighth grade in fact. You have to watch that popular group. Two in college now - ask me how I know.

She can meet them in public places, hang out after school, invite them to your house. If there are some kids with parents that you know and trust, she can go there. But parties with kids getting wasted and enough pot to redden eyes are just asking for trouble.

She will beg, yell, call you names, try to sneak off to see them, lie about where she's going. But you have to be the parent. There are lots of bad things that can happen to 15 year old girls at out-of-control parties. Talk to her and keep the conversation lines open, but be prepared to be stand firm.

I agree. She can't drive there herself. And you are her parent. She is very young at 15.

Learn to take parental disco naps and no sleepovers at other homes so you always are awake to talk with your teen or can pick them up. Not a lot of fun to talk with your folks while blitzed - will still experiment and go to parties but hopefully will learn to use in extreme moderation. Plus sports. Worked for our eldest now in college and hope this will work for our second eldest too.
