I don't think it's because she's attractive.

I think being married to Anthony Weiner is a big part of it, and basically being Gal Friday to Hillary for so many years (bill Clinton officiated her wedding ceremony. They were just very close and I think people assume she knows where the bodies are buried).

She's the living embodiment of the collateral damage from being close to power.

+1 I find her glamorous and fascinating but also a cautionary tale. She was Hillary's heir apparent. She was featured in Vogue. Her wedding dress made her look like a princess. She was set up with her husband by the president, and at the time, Weiner was being compared to Kennedy. They were the most promising political couple in America. And their romance was so American-- he a new york jew, she a Muslim midwestern girl, both making the world their oyster.

Fast forward and it's all a nightmare for her. I still get chills thinking about her standing next to him at the press conference for his first sex issue. She was being both the good wife and the good employee by keeping all her pain inside and making herself small.

Romance? LOL. You mean fake and calculated as hell, curated for by a panel of NPR hosts.

You think a pair of NPR hosts made these two people marry and have a child?

Do you follow Q as well?

I believe the post meant the romance part was embellished.

Which Clinton? IIRC, she and Hillary Clinton are very close friends. So, maybe not valuable so much as "close to." Which can be valuable in its own way.

I think one of the major Clinton weakness (B & H) is that they were so attacked by organized right wing forces in the 90's that they really circled the wagons and only trusted people that they really trusted. And it bred a culture of loyalty that was, in the end, really unhealthy. You need to be able to challenge people you work with, and you need for people who work with you to be able to challenge you. And you need to be able to jettison people that aren't really working out, and you need to be able to bring in people that maybe haven't been part of your circle of trust before, or associated with someone in your circle of trust. I think the Clintons struggled with all of that after the Vince Foster, Whitewater, impeachment stuff (the Vince Foster stuff being the most ridiculous).

She is very gorgeous to me. Maybe people that only find blue eyed blonde women the epitome of beauty would disagree.

She sort of has Kennedy teeth.

A bit of a bunny rabbit thing going on. Amal, she's gorgeous. Huma is just well groomed.

This was such a dumb, dumb theory. They clearly have a "mother-daughter" professional relationship. Huma was competent, loyal, and kept her mouth shut; this enabled HRC to deeply trust her and therefore she had a strong understanding of Huma's personal life. That's what happens when you spend more time on the road with your colleague than your own family.

In the end, Huma made the same mistakes as her mother-figure: she ended up with a power hungry guy who couldn't keep it in his pants. They were attracted to the same personality type.

They remain married because spouses can't be compelled to testify against each other. Duh.

But he’s already served his prison sentence and has been out for years.

The bolder is an excellent observation. Maybe they’re still married so he can’t testify about her …

Like the other PP, I have much more sympathy for Elizabeth Edwards. And like Hillary and shill, she was the smarter one., she was also brilliant at making connections with people and working a room. She outshined John in SO many ways. His outrageous betrayal surely cut short her life. I’d like to spit in that scum bag if I ever was within 5 feet of him.

My brother has seen Huma on the subway a few times and thinks she’s gorgeous, like all eyes turn to her involuntarily. He said her beauty isn’t that well-captured in pictures.

I can imagine. She is quite striking to me. Exact level of beauty as Amal IMO.

No way. They're the same age but Amal is softer and much more stunning. Her enhanced jawline gives her more symmetry. Amal looks like a Hollywood star and I can see why Clooney locked her down.

Bill is the smarter and a thousand times more likable one. Sorry.

John Edwards didn’t cause her cancer. She actually lived 7 years past her original diagnosis which was more than likely linked to the IVF treatments she underwent back-to-back three years before.

The stress he put into her life with his outrageous behavior very likely affected her health during her battle with cancer.

Good god, I can't believe the comments on Huma's attractiveness and comparisons to Amal! What is wrong with you people?! I'm so tired of people, women especially, dissecting and judging someone's attractiveness. While Huma is a public figure, she's not built a career on her looks. Stop perpetuating this BS.

Exactly my thoughts. My other thought was that unless you plan on posting a picture of yourself also, then keep your mouth shut about other people's looks.
