How much are you all eating if exercise doesn't matter?

OP - do you wear a tracker? Curious your step count and how high it is.

Anyone making statements about this without a qualifying "For me" is wrong. I identify more with op's body type, it's all about exercise but I believe for others it's CICO. I can visibly see how different bodies are despite such similar lifestyles. I am thankful for exercise because I love food too much and exercise (but not weight lifting) maintains me.

Very well said.

And the rest of us are just lazy?

Yes, I am. That age and that weight and eat about that much. What problem do you have with that? If I can eat that much, the truth is that you are all sitting on your couches or consider 30 minute daily walks exercise. Of course, in that case exercise doesn't matter. If you were active your whole lives you would be eating as much as I do and not be overweight.
Nothing strenuous either, just a ton of walking.

However in the world can you find time to post your little gems on DCUM if you’re walking that much?
Some of us have to work and can’t spend four hours walking around.

Walking is part of my job. Right now, I am about to have lunch. Just walked into my office from a task that involved walking.

Step count is pretty dumb and irrelevant, because not all steps are remotely the same.

A moderate walk of 15k steps will burn less than running 10k steps, or walking 5-10k steps on stairs.

Getting steps in is fine as far as it concerns basic movement and circulation, but it's irrelevant when it comes to calories.

LOL! Says a lazy person, no doubt. Walking is possibly the most effective weight management that human on the whole can do. You have no clue what you are talking about. Walking is the best exercise ever.

This is quite possibly one of the stupidest posts in this forum ever. OP just saying walking is amazing and everyone else must be lazy. Rinse and repeat.

Stupid for people that are not used to walking?

You should eat more, your body is messed up with so few calories. How much do you weight?

I have tried eating more, that’s how I got to 160 pounds at 5’6. I was eating a ton of protein trying out the advice to balance macros, but all it did was make me gain and look like an apple.

I think everyone has a different body chemistry, mine only responds to calorie restriction at this point in my life (40 years old with three kids). It’s actually quite a bit of food, I eat a ton of veggies!

I am the 5'6" 140lbs PP who maintains at 2500. You either eat more than you realize or you literally do not move all day. There is no way you have to only eat 1200 calories to stay in shape.

I am 5', 120 lbs, and 50. When I was weighing and measuring everything meticulously, I was *maintaining* at 1150 calories. So yeah, some of us have to eat very little to maintain. My mom is 4'8", 92 lbs. She eats WAY less than I do, to maintain.

PP is significantly heavier than you though. I would suspect you are not very generally active too if you have to eat so little to maintain. I literally work out and walk everywhere so that I can eat more.

PP is also 6” taller!

I can’t “walk everywhere” because there is no place close enough to walk to. However, I get something like 12k steps a day. I get up early to get in a walk, and walk while DD is at her activities. During the work day, I’m not too active.

I have a same aged friend who is my mom’s size, despite eating pretty much whatever she wants. She exercises not at all.

Not sure if trolling or if just dumb

Activity is such a fallacy. Our bodies are incredibly efficient, so most of us cannot do enough exercise to lose weight, we must instead manage caloric intake.
