Wife demanding I apologize to her for a flat tire?

Anonymous
She sounds like a nightmare. Sorry about that hellacious day. Too bad you did not find a supportive partner when you got home.

Stick to your guns on this.

Try to gain more power in this relationship. She is unreasonable.

Perhaps marriage counselling?

Take care of what?

"Real man?"

What are you a cave man? It is 2021.

Your wife sounds mentally ill, it’s only going to get worse I would hedge and start faking my orgasms.

"She told me to find the cheapest fix" -- make your own decision about what tires you want on your car FFS.

"I was texting my DW periodically with updates" -- what are you, a little boy who needs constant reassurance and approval from mommy?

"I apologized in the moment" -- pardon me while I puke.

As for all the demands for apology and nagging, what you should do is read When I Say No, I Feel Guilty and use some of its techniques such as fogging.

Why did you get the tire plugged?

$500 for two low profile tires is very cheap. It’s actually pretty cheap for 1 tire!

That's insane. She demanded an apology for something that hardly affected her and it was completely out of your control. What did she expect you to be sorry for?
Anonymous
I would give her a hug and say "I'm sorry for getting a flat tire and it sucks it cost $500. Can you say thank you for fixing it?"

And if she can't smile and hug back then you two need to take a day apart, or get drunk, or have sex to reset because that is ridiculous.

Not the PP but ye, even in 2021 there are real men, and there is the OP.

I can't imagine involving my wife, or seeking her approval about a damn car repair and certainly not when purchasing tires. You sent her updates? Her's an update, I dropped off the car, they said I can wait, see you in a few hours. What's for dinner. Oh and, you're welcome.

OP this is bigger than a flat tire.

Something is clearly wrong with your DW and you.

Owning a car things happen. If either of you can not deal with that do not own one.

Honestly she's insane. You need a divorce ASAP

If my DH ever said anything to me like that I'd slash every tire we owned and make him get them fixed.

Absoutely absurd.

Here’s what a sexy man does, gets the tire fixed… does not do all that childish approval seeking crap.

When she acts crazy when you get home, say “uh huh… yep… I hear you….” All while moving forward to hug her. When she protests, you keep going, saying “I love you.” And “You’re so hot.”

Start putting on the moves, go down on her first, have amazing sex, make sure she orgasms at least 2x

Don’t ever waste your life arguing for hours with someone you love. Just have sex and focus on loving them. The rest will work itself out, and if not, at least you’ll have great sex and won’t be a miserable whiner.

100% you are contributing AT LEAST half to this distinction.

Why would she want to be without the only car for ten days, op? That’s what got my attention.
My husband and I have been criticized for going to the dealer when stuff like this happens, we’re “wasting money” yet we havent met an independent mechanic yet who can do what the dealer does in terms of making sure we aren’t without a vehicle.

I’d also ged AAA or Roadside Assistance, you shouldn’t have to muck around on the side of the road not in 2021.

This isn’t about money, op. Your wife has a mental illness and is using frugality as a way to make it acceptable. I got jumped on for saying once that I haven’t met anybody who is “frugal” who is also mentally and emotionally healthy. OP’s situation is just one more example of why I think this way.

She is controlling and you are a martyr. Change it up or suffer.
