Literally this is what Blake says IN the video. It's not analysis, it's just a narrative description of what is happening in the first take of the video. |
It started even before filming. The fat shaming incident began pre-production |
| Had not realized all that happened on Day 1 and Day 2. That is rather A LOT. |
Why would Blake be upset about pictures in herself in costume? She’s bragged all over the media about what a great job she did picking out the wardrobe. PS Literally nothing in these paragraphs sounds remotely like a nightmare. |
But the crisis around lilys costumes and age was not Baldoni‘s fault. Fans took those pictures and leaked them. I was following this pretty closely from the beginning and I didn’t see any criticism of Blake’s weight? Only about her ridiculous outfits and how she was too old for the character. Anyway, her outfits were really ridiculous and people did not like them. That was part of Justin‘s complaint, she wasn’t supposed to have full wardrobe control. But either way, that’s not really the production team‘s fault that fans were being nasty. Yes I’m sure it created drama. They were shooting in a very public place in New York, fans were going to find them. Regardless, we don’t know who to believe because Baldoni‘s description of their meeting in her trailer was very different, and it sounded like they were still getting along then, and she complimented him on what a great job he was doing. I’m not convinced that things fell apart that quickly. |
X1000 but ultimately it all goes back to what they are working with. |

It’s pretty clear though that things were chaotic in part due to Blake as well as Justin. We haven’t talked about the whole nudity rider issue, but maybe we should. I will admit I skimmed over that part because it was really boring in Justin‘s complaint. But from what I understand, they were handing wringing over her not getting the nudity rider signed and back to them. It seems like that was taking forever. Maybe her team wanted to adjust it, which is totally their right, but it seemed like it went days and days without being done.
It makes no sense - if you are Blake‘s lawyer and she’s actively working on a movie that has love scenes you should probably prioritize that. Not clear why it took them so long. I guess they could’ve stopped filming, but they only had a $25 million budget, I’m sure most of that went to salaries, and they were filming in New York, which is like the most expensive place to shoot a film. I’m sure they didn’t have a ton of extra budget. It sounds like she created some of that stress. Maybe they could’ve handled it better. |
PR can't create what isn't there. Blake comes off as condescending and rude in many of her public interactions. She is who she is |
PP here. There's no indication Lively was upset about the photographs. Both complaints indicate that it was Baldoni who was upset about the photos. Lively's complaint says that Lively pointed out that the photos were taken of her in costume for scenes where her character has just been abused by her partner, so it makes sense the character looks disheveled and not at her best. It was Baldoni et al who were concerned about it. And agree to disagree on whether this sounds like a nightmare. I think regardless of who you believe, this is an insane amount of conflict for the first two days of filming. Then fact that Lively was complaining to Wayfarere about Baldoni's behavior toward her on Day 2 is a really bad sign. |
“Normal discovery”? are you under the impression that DCUM is a court of law? lol. |
Well I saw the movie and this isn’t right. None of these scenes are after abuse. This was her going to work and about her day as a flower shop owner. There are only a couple scenes of abuse and they are very specific and none of them have her out and about at the flower shop after. If things were chaotic on day one, it seems like in part because Blake doesn’t respect hierarchy at all. She completely dismissed the wardrobe department that they hired and use all of her own clothes and Gigi hadid’s clothes, which makes no sense for the character who is not wealthy. And then she disregarded the director and later the editing team entirely. |
| I’m going to have to wait for the trial. |

It sounds like Justin gave into Blake Lively’s demands from the very beginning, paving the way for a toxic set with an imbalanced dynamic.
Here’s my question: do you think if Justin asserted himself at the very beginning (e.g. no you can’t take control over the wardrobe) and offered no apologies, would Blake have eventually fallen in line, allowing for a smoother set in the long run? Or would this have been a power struggle no matter what Justin did? |
Given that Blake has a reputation as being difficult to work with, I think that part was inevitable. |
The two scenes I can think of that would be "after abuse" are the scenes in the brown dress where they go to dinner, after he hits her in the face, and the scene with Atlas after the almost rape. I don't know when they filmed those scenes, but I do remember Lively's costumes in both definitely got criticized online. People especially criticized the scene with Atlas because she's wearing a plaid shacket which is oversized. But if those were the photos in question, it makes perfect sense that her character is dressed down and wearing something comfortable and covered in that scene. It is an emotional scene and Lily is upset. They don't film movies in chronological order so they could have filmed any scenes first. |
