Thanks for the portal into how things used to be several years ago. Its not like this now. |
Reliable data/evidence for this claim? |
ECNL would have far more credibility if it shared its stats rather than an anonymous twitter account. |
There are some crappy teams in both leagues. But ECNL is much stronger overall. No competition. |
If this is true why did ECNL stop posting their committment numbers? GA does. |
Heard at least one YNT camp is coming up that conflicts w ECNL playoffs. So lots of GA players invited. |
ECNL doesn't need to do anything. GA has to post to try and stay relevant. |
GA has posted commitment numbers on their site for every year the league has been in existence. ECNL stopped posting commitment numbers and removed all info related to commitment numbers. Wonder why... |
With the House settlement and new rules on roster limits, and the transfer portal, these leagues are going to have to find another way to stay relevant and justify the cost and travel that comes with playing in them. The numbers of high schools committing to D1 and top level D2/D3 schools is going to dwindle and schools are going to start relying more heavily on the transfer portal for proven players. |
All this will do is make winning or playing for a club with connections more important. It will also open the door for some kind of non pro "minor league" soccer entity to exist between High School and College. There might even be an uptick in gap year soccer programs that prep players for college. |
More than 700 (which includes D1, D2, D2, NAIA, etc.) out of how many in total? When you realize the denominator, you'll realize that stat isn't as impressive as you thought it once was. |
Too many to keep track of? Much easier for GA to do it. |
700 GA college commitments is an impressive number no matter how you try to diminish it. |
all the more reason to find an ECNL team to play for. |
Maybe ECNL leadership is mathematically illiterate. Or, maybe GA commitment numbers are taking a bigger and bigger chunk yoy. |
